We finally got Monty's results of his culture test last night. He has E.Coli, MRSP (abundant growths) and Enterococcus Species (low growth). He is now on the 136 mg Baytril, double what he was on before, for 3 weeks and Bactrim. Fingers crossed this will finally knock this out once and for all.

Oh wow.... thank goodness she sent it off to see what the heck it was. So how on earth did he get that?? Did she say?

:faint:

Thank goodness you took him back!

Sending prayers this is the beginning of the end of it

No, I only spoke to her briefly on the phone. From what I've read, the MSRP can be hard to cure but as you say, he has been tested so now we know what antibiotics are best for this. I hope it works, poor boy! How is Tyson doing with his UTI? All well hopefully!

Yes, certain strands of MRSA can be really hard to treat. I really hope this is it, and he'll be good as new after he finishes the meds - poor poor Monty.

Tyson is doing okay, he is still on the Baytril as well, I think he has about 5 days left. I think the Baytril makes him kinda lethargic so I'm hoping once he's done with it, he peps up a bit. Other than that he's good, no more blood in pee.

I'm so glad for you the MRSA was sensitive to Bactrim and the E.Coli to Baytril. That was lucky that you didn't need intravenous antibiotics. Make sure to keep him on a good doggie probiotic !!

We are praying the infection responds to these drugs, if not, I am not sure where we go from here. I put him on VetriScience Mega Probiotics as soon as the antibiotics started.

Yes make sure probiotics is taken all the way through the antibiotics!

My goodness, how on earth did he catch this? I'm so sorry, and I hope the meds work this time...

Harlea had it and it was a nightmare. Took almost 7 months to finally clear up but 3 years later we are still dealing with the aftermath as her allergies became 100 times worse after that battle.
