Hi all!
I just wanted to touch base to let you know everything is going well with us! The re-integration has worked magic. Curly and Astro are, strangely, best friends now. They face low each other all over the house and outside. They even sleep together. I cannot even to begin to tell you how happy we have been that they get along.
The things we did, in case anyone is wondering:
1. Took Astro to puppy training: he nipped a lot
2. Worked on Curly's toy and cheese aggression with a trainer
3. Moved cross country (we were planning this anyhow, it just helped a lot)
4. Neutered Astro - we were planning to wait a year but did it at 6 months after recommendations form a behaviorist and vet.
5. Masked Curly whenever he was around Astro
6. Gave Curly. curly time which he isn't around the other dogs (he gravitated more toward humans and doesn't really care for other dogs)
We still separate Curly when we aren't around and we only allow them to be together when they are supervised (I work from home fortunately).
Still OCCASIONALLY curly gets "grouchy" and will become aggressive towards Astro but he doesn't go after him. When Cirly gets grouchy we separate them and let Curly take a nap. When he wakes up it's like nothing happened.
Anyhow here are some pics I wish I had some better ones of them together
