Can anyone give me some insight

Decades ago I had Dobermans. One female was a real little B. And if there’s a breed you don’t want it to bite anyone are Dobermans and German Shepherds. I had a trainer friend who she trained in Germany for her full training courses. She’s the one that told me to grab the dog on the spot and put it on their side. It sounds rough but it doesn’t harm the dog whatsoever.
Grab them where at??? The rolls behind her neck? I just don’t want to hurt her. Just want to teach her.

I notice Nugget, has no collar, is there a reason for that? The collar will give you the hold, you won't hurt her.

Like @Lennie. U.K. noticed, you need a collar so you have a hold on something.

So basically, grab the collar so you got control, then grab the back leg which will be where she’ll be laying on and bring it towards you. Or just grab both back legs and slide her down. Nuggets will atomically lay there. Hold position. Or just put her down on her side since your husband is stronger.

Or……do it this way

Jeffo has a nylon double clasp collar on 24/7 and a harness when he goes out. I don't know who told you not to put a collar on Nugget, never heard of that. If you had to grab Nugget for any reason, with a collar you have good chance, with no collar you have no chance.

She has a harness. I was always told not to put a collar on a bulldog.
Harness is fine. Does the same job. Regarding collars, you would be surprised how powerful of a neck a bulldog has. I always keep a collar on all my dogs cause if a situation arises, you’ll need that grip on your dog. I personally find harnesses irritated my bullies underarm areas. I stuck to collars but loose enough you can put your fingers right under.

Yes. I understand. I was told their breathing not the best to use a harness. But I realize you are not using collar to walk the baby. So thank you. I will try it!

A Martingale collar (properly fitted) will cinch up with enough room to put at least 4 fingers between the neck and the collar...always leaving plenty of room to breathe. Properly fitted, a bulldog cannot back out of the collar. Do NOT use collars with buckles. The buckles will eventually fail. We use Lupine exclusively because of the Lifetime Warranty.

Thanks. I’m gonna find her a good one.
