I wish I found this thread earlier before my Chubs' ears got this bad.
I cleaned his ears daily with an all natural rinse and dry formula. After a few years, something happened and all of a sudden his right ear got really goopy really fast! I took him to the vet, and apparently his ear canals are so closed up and hardened that the ear rinse has been staying inside his ears and not draining properly. He was given some antibiotics and a steroid to bring some swelling down, but neither one of those medications did anything. I was also told to rinse his ears with Palmolive (dish soap) and a warm wet towel to wipe it clean. That seemed to make it all worse and now his ears drain constantly. His skin under his ear broke out into a rash. His ear hurts so bad that I cannot clean or wipe his ear without making his cry. Chubs is very sad and it's breaking my heart! I was told to go to a vet clinic about 2 hours from where I live but after checking some reviews, it's not a wonderful place. Pets have caught kennel cough there, waited 3 hours to be seen and not received any treatment (just rude, heartless service.)
Chubs made need surgery to open up the ear canals again. Is there anyone in the Palm Springs, CA area that can help my bully feel better??
My regular vet is consulting with someone else right now, but he's thinking a dermatologist?? Does that even make sense??
In the meantime, I'm giving Chubs some doggie aspirin so that he can at least walk around and spring a little life into him. I tried cleaning his ear again, but he cried and yelped so bad that we just hugged each other and cried together.
