Hello, my name is Kelly. I have a question about our six-year-old bulldog. He is bleeding again this would be his third prolapse surgery he is about to have. Has anybody had this? He neutered during his second prolapse surgery. it has been almost 2 years no bleeding and then it started again. I took him back to the vet. He said the prolapse doesn’t look that bad to be bleeding like he is. He’s on anabiotic, ace medicine and pain meds although he doesn’t seem like he’s in pain, he will sleep through the night and be fine but the minute he gets up it’s like somebody killed something and it’s explosive blood. I thought we were in the clear for day or two and then it came back. I’m just not sure how much more they can cut off and what happens if they can’t fix this? Anyone else with the same issue?

Welcome! I am sorry I cannot help but just wanted to welcome you to the group. Hopefully someone will be along to help you.

We've had 2 of our placements that had multiple prolapses and the only thing left to do was bypass the penis all together. There's only but so much tissue that can be removed before more drastic measures have to be taken. IIRC, the patient would pass urine from behind the penis, much like a female. One of the dogs had a small measure of incontinence as he grew old and was diapered for the last year of his life.
I hope that your pup does not have to go down this road.
