Skin patches

We are experiencing very rough scaly patches that completely lose hair on the patch.
What could it be?

Are the patches big? Itchy? If your pup is experiencing any discomfort, I would take him to a vet! Things to consider include allergy (new food recently?) and possibly parasites.

Every autumn, Castor gets these really tiny (3 mm or so) bald patches on the top of his head. Could be some staph infection, perhaps, but we don't do anything as his fur grows back and it doesn't seem to itch.

He will rub his face occasionally on the couch. No other changes no vet visit yet.

Had him 5 yrs. they are about an inch under his ear. Hair is full all around other than the spot

I’m thinking some type of bacterial infection.... I’d get a vet appointment

When you say under the ear, towards the face or towards the back head? Also is there anything new or changed towards his diet?
