Question about food

In New Zealand our vets really push Eukanuba ... & yes thats because they get commision from the sales :( ... It was by chance that I met a lady who is a sales rep for a brand they call "Ultra Naturally Fresher" this is not sold in any vet or retail outlets & is only available through a rep but is 100% natural products ... Since having our babies on this I cannot believe the changes in them! kahn came to us when he was 4 years after having quite a hard life and was in very poor condition with severe staining in his wrinkles on his face, since we have had him on this food his staining has lightened and his energy levels & condition of his coat is amazing! Through going onto this I have learnt that the difference between a "Premium" dog food & a commercial brand is their higher digestibility eg for every 100gm of premium food fed & eaten 80gm is digested & 20gm ends up as poop & for a lesser brand 40gm is digested & 60gm ends up as poop ... It is not cheap to buy but generally the old saying "you get what you pay for" applies to dog food ... & aren't our babies worth it!!! :)

Okay, I found an online pet food store that sells almost every kind of dog food. Seems like they have different promotions everyday, and an auto ship program. I would check it everyday, yesterday they had free shipping for new customers, but not today.... :(

Depending on the special, you could potentially save quite a bit. The shipping cost will vary depending on where you live.

Yesterday Royal Canine was the special, today it is Wellness. Anyway, we wanted to test out becoming an affiliate so I have inserted a link on the HOME page for those of you that do not have many shopping choices near you. Please let me know if you place an order, because you will be supporting the community by doing so, and we will issue you a Community Supporter Award. You MUST use the link on the home page though! :)

I switched Emma to Wellness white fish and sweet potatoes due to her allergies and she's finally cleared up her eyes. I tried everything and this seems to work.

We're going to be switching to Wellness super5 chicken, I'm quite excited to watch for the changes.

I agree, I think this is the food I want to switch to. (Wellness)

I need to find out where in town I can get it for the best price.

Make sure and sign up for the wellness newsletter. They just sent out coupons today for $1 off a can and $3 off any size bag of wellness dog or cat food.

yeah I agree with you aqualung. I think you gotta watch for their specials to get a bargain. I suppose some people live in remote areas where they cannot get the brand of dog food they want and this way they can get it.

What does everybody think off Eukanuba for puppy, small breed. Thats what the breeder recomended and thats what we have stuck to. His skin and coat are nice and he seems to of leveled of in weight he is 5 months and weights 38 lbs. Anybody what Eukanuba is rated at?

Many years ago (like probably 10 years ago) Iams and Eukanuba were considered to be decent dog food. Same with Hills Science Diet. Then Proctor & Gamble purchased the brands and they went downhill from there.

Proctor & Gamble recently bought Innova too, one of the highest rated dog foods on the market. So sad for this, because you know where it is going to go.

Unfortunately many dog foods that are low in quality have breeder programs and give information packets and samples of these dog foods. In return for feeding the dog food to their dogs, they get coupons for free dog food. (for example, 5 bags of eukanuba, send in UPC codes, get 1 bag free).

Eukanuba is actually graded a one star, so it is not very healthy food. It also causes tear stains.

It is better than Pedigree, Purina, ect. but it is still low grade. If you switch to a higher quality of food, you will see a change in your dogs coat, it may seem healthy and shiny, but until you actually make a switch do you see what the difference is.

I recommend going with a 4 star or higher. For Bulldogs, 4 star food seems to be an excellent choice. Watch for the higher grades, especially since your baby is still a pup, they do have an excessive amount of protein.

I am still working on this page, to make it easy for everyone to choose a great dog food. One problem, with 1000's of dog foods out there, it will take us some time to finish. ;)
