So they weren't able to get an xray of Punkin's hips, only the mid-lower spine and both knees.
The vet said that he has mild arthritis on his lower spine area, near the tail bone. Supposedly it's very common. She pointed to us how Punks' esophagus was full of poop
and asked if he's had any digestive problems. We told her no since we've had him and prior to then is a mystery. She mentioned that the arthritis may have been a secondary reaction caused by bacteria traveling from his esophagus penetrating the lower spine area and caused an infection. Her recommended treatment plan is probiotics and a semi-annual chiropractic laser therapy or something along those lines. All I remembered was that they're $30 each session, which we giggled at because it was cheaper than any of his meds.
She said that his good knee looks good. Clean lines and no inflammation.
His bad knee, on the other hand, definitely shows some arthritis. She saw a very small tear on his acl and referred us to a specialist to discusss if he's a good candidate for surgery. She said that they may recommend a minor one, where they scrape the area, but may also decide that it's so minor that anti-imflammatories and other supplements may do the trick. Overall, she's glad that he's recovered well from when he hurt himself 3 weeks ago from rough-housing in daycare.
Going to book an appt with the specialist for either the end of this week or next week. Hopefully they can determine a good treatment plan. It would be nice to see the little football player walk without a limp.
