Poem: An Ode To Butler

hey everybody! i had to write a poem for my communication class about something "emotionally important" to me, so naturally i wrote about butler and i wanted to share it with all of you i miss you guys. sorry i've been MIA, but i just have a lot of stuff going on in my life and haven't been able to get on much.


An Ode to Butler

I was told that you needed a home,
You’d been walking the streets unloved and alone.

For three long months you waited in your cage,
“When will I be chosen?” wasn’t something you could gage.

The shelter said that you were wild; training needed to be done,
But once I saw your wrinkled face I knew you were the one.

I could tell that you were abused by humans in the past,
But pain, neglect, and suffering I’d help you forget fast.

It took some time for you, my dear, to trust and understand,
That I am your forever home and will show you love firsthand.

More than just a simple pet, you are a gift to me,
You’ve unveiled a side of me I thought I’d never see.

I didn’t think I’d love or care for something other than myself,
But you’ve shown this jaded human how to put that on the shelf.

So thank you to my rescue dog,
You’ve meant so much you see,
Because through our companionship, you’ve also rescued me.

yeah, i had to share it with my class. i can give speeches all day long, but i hate sharing emotional writing with strangers. lol. so i chose something sweet, but still choked up at the end.
