I've been wanting to get these for my pups. THey will be 6 months on Sunday. Penny is right around 30lbs and Lockjaw about 35ish lbs. should I wait until closer to a year? I really don't want to end up buying 2 for each of them. How adjustable is the sizing?

Size 1 fits my 55lb, but he's significantly leaner than my 75lb boy, who requires a size 2. Granted, the size two was malnourished when adopted, so he spring up in about 6 months.
