Jack's at the vet again under observation with an IV and a steroid shot. Wednesday morning he ate his food, was totally fine and then his morning stool was very loose. That evening he didn't seem to have much energy (and he's quite the energetic pup) and wouldn't eat his dinner. He's a light eater but that was our first red flag. His loose stools continued and Thursday morning and evening he wouldn't eat again and he wasn't drinking water. He also looked like he was in pain the way he was walking. Yesterday morning he was trembling a bit when I left for work and I had my cousin come by at lunch to check on him. He ate a bit of food but hadn't touched his water in his crate. I called the vet and left work to take him in where they did an x-ray and a fecal test. They gave me Flagyl to give to him for a possible intestnial infection. Last night's stool was loose and had a bit of blood in it. He was displaying every sign of having had digested a toy or a chunk of ball. He had a few pieces of a red freasbie in his stool so we were pretty confident that was it. Our senior dog had digested many things over the years and Jack had the same symptoms. Well fast forward to this morning and early this am he started whimpering and he was so hot to the touch. I took him in this morning and another x-ray didn't show anything. The tech said that when they were doing his x-ray that he's head was bobbly, not normal she said. The x-ray didn't show anything again and but the CBC blood test showed his white cell count is elevated - could be because he's a puppy or an intestinal infection. They're keeping him over night for observation. He couldn't even walk today he was so stiff and his back was arched which had me very alarmed.
Poor guy. As many of you know he's our rescue dog. We got him at 4 months old and he's almost 7 months now. He was so skinny his spine was showing. He was just gaining his weight and although thin he was looking good. He's skinny again.
I have no clue what's up with him and aside from a toy there's nothing in our yard that it could be that I can think of. Now what's weird is that around Monday Wilson all of a sudden really started sniffing his butt, like sniffing it.
The doc's going to call me this evening so hopefully there's more news.
