Today while I was searching the Internet at lunch, I came across a very interesting blog about the “Old School Dominance Theory” written by Nicole Wilde (Wilde About Dogs). Nicole is a certified pet dog trainer and canine behavior specialist that has written nine canine-related books. If you are having behavioral issues with your dog, I would recommend that you read it before starting any type of behavioral modifications. In this article she talks about what “Old School” mentalities and physical behavioral modifications can actually do to a dog and supports positive reinforcement. All of our issues that we were having between our two rescue females have more or less been solved by the use of positive reinforcement.
If anyone's interested in the blog and cannot find it, please let me know and I'll message you the link.
