Allie and I just got home from the emergency vet.

I'd left her with my parents since I had to work late tonight, and evidently she got into a fight with their frenchie while I was still at work. Her entire white face was tinged with blood, but I could only see a few small scratches around her eye, so I made her get into the bathtub so I clean her up. After she got out of the bath I noticed blood under her chin, looked in her mouth, and she had a huge hole where 3 teeth and the tissue surrounding had all broken off in one piece! It looked like her upper jaw was broken and dislocated. I immediately called my vet and he sent me to the emergency clinic about 30 minutes away.

They had to sedate her to examine/stitch her up. Luckily the hole wasn't all the way up into the sinus cavity, but she did loose a tooth. Hopefully it was done quickly enough so that she won't loose the rest of the teeth. The vet knocked her out, then woke her back up and sent her home.

Allie is laying in the bed snoring at the moment, but I feel absolutely horrible and like I let this happen. She doesn't get along with my Mom's frenchie, but since I had to work so late I didn't want to leave her alone all day. :(

Hi, I'm so sorry this happened to Allie, and I hope she feels better soon, and she doesn't lose anymore teeth. Don't blame yourself for what happened, you didn't want her to be alone. Did your mom not separate them in different parts of the house, or did they get together by accident? Do they always fight when they are together? I would just let her be at home when you have to work late, most bullies will sleep when they are home alone. Maybe you could get a dog walker to come in on your late nights and take her for a potty break, and keep her company for a 1/2 hour or so.

So Glad Allie is going to be ok. Maybe it is best not to leave Allie there with the Frenchie anymore.

Poor girl and momma.... Not a bad Momma at all, these things can happen. So, since they do not get along, are you close enough that when you work late your Mom can stop over and take Allie out for a quick walk or potty break? Or if she needs to go to Mom's house, mom can keep them in separate rooms?
i hope Allie heals up quick...

Awe, so sorry! Happy Allie is gonna be okay! You're def not a bad momma. In agreement with the rest, either keep them in separate rooms or leave Allie at home. My baby will just sleep or chew on his chewie if we're late.

First of all I agree w/the gang… you are NOT a bad momma!!! These things happen, and sometimes it happens when two dogs actually LIKE each other… you can never predict how dogs are going to react sometimes. I hope that Allie feels better real soon...

You are not a bad mom, quite the opposite, you could not forsee this happening, you wanted the best for your baby. We all make mistakes, all turned out ok, it was a learning experience. Just give your baby snuggles!!

How scary, so glad she's going to be okay! Agree with everyone else, no bad mamma talk. You took care of her right away, got her to the vet.

I agree, things happen and you were just trying to do a good thing for her, and you got her the help she needed quickly, So you are a good bully mama. Maybe next time you need to leave her at your moms, she will keep them separated so this will not happen again. Little Frenchies can hold their own, and are not intimidated by bigger dogs. :)

They had kept them separate, but let them all out to go potty. As soon as they came back in some kids rang the door bell to trick or treat and then the fight started. I'm guessing Emma (the frenchie) jumped on Allie's back and it just went from there. Emma is definitely not intimidated, and Allie isn't the most tolerant of her on a good day.

Now I'm just super paranoid about her ripping her stitches. The vet said no chewing/kibble for at least 2 weeks so she's on canned/homemade food only, and I keep having to take toys away from her.

The most important thing is she's going to be okay. Things happen..your quick decision to get her treated shows you're a good bully parent. Dont beat yourself up.

Ugh... Doorbells cause havoc in our house too, and it is a Bulldog and Frenchie too!

you know, you can't keep an eye on your pet 24/7, things happen. Even when you're watching them they still get hurt. You are doing the best you could and that is the most important thing.

You are not a bad mom. You had her best interest in mind. Sorry that she got hurt. Sending prayers and puppy kisses her way for a speedy recovery.
