Our Bella has recently been looking like she is stiff when she firsts gets up, definitely moving slower and sometimes limps a little, we were thinking arthritis. She has woken up panting a coupke of times. I know that could be she is in pain. She has been sleeping a little more than usual. She still has the same eating habits, which is she really hardly ever finishes her food.
We took her to the vet today to get some blood work done.
The vet said her stomach looked a little distended.
So they wanted to do an ultrasound to see if there was any inflammation.
Her blood work came back great. The only thing that was very slightly high was her HGB, the vet said that could be from dehydration and the ultrasound came back normal, too! She gained a couple of lbs she is 69 lbs now.
So $650 later they put her on Galliprant 60mg 1 per day for two weeks.
Don't get me wrong I am so thankful that all of the tests came back pretty darn good.
The only other vet bills we have ever had with her are her yearly vaccines and her being spayed. We have been so lucky in that respect.
Here she is sitting under her dad in the office not looking happy
Lol

They also mentioned an injection that they can give her once a month in place of the pill. Has anyone had that (I cannot remember the name on if)
Bella is such a pain to give a pill to everyday.

Start her on the turmeric recipe attached. Also raw marrow n liver will also build her gut up. Nyala 9.5 yrs young, was also sleeping more and saw her limping a few times. I cut her meals a bit which I find she’s more on the ball and added the turmeric paste mix in her raw.

What kind of raw liver? I am not sure she would eat it raw!
I am pretty sure she would not eat the tumeric recipe. I will try though! She is a VERY PICKY eater... she will sniff anything before eating it. If she eats it at all.
Lol
So if I can get her to eat that should I still give her the prescription from vet?

Bella’s like me, I smell anything that’s new lolll 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don’t know of any dog that won’t eat raw. Have you ever given her a piece of raw burger before cooking? Beef liver. You can start with a 1/4 cup every 2nd day for a week. Then up 1/2 cup the 2nd week. I personally would also start Frank on it. You can mix it in their food. Have you tried feeding her a raw diet? Or like open farm? She might benefit from that diet. Like get some raw going in her kibbles.

Galliprant is basically a NSAID for pain/inflammation. It’s basically aspirins which we all have in our cabinets n safe for dogs. I cant tell you what to do. But like I said, it’s just an aspirin. Make sure if you do give Galliprant or Aspirin to also give her Greek yogurt or a pro-prebiotics so it keeps her gut clean.

To have healthy bones it’s to up the protein intake. Kibbles are overheated to form a kibble n you’ll lost half the nutrients in the kibble. Why adding liver, sardines is the best way to rebuild. And yes, dogs, shouldn’t be eating bread or any process food.

I have not tried giving her raw ground beef. Lol....
I shall try!!
I have actually cooked beef liver with brown rice, some broccoli and green beans to add to their dry food as a topper just to get them to eat it. As they are both picky eaters! They rarely finish their food. They actually eat the topper and have most of the kibble all over the floor. Lol
I hear about other people's dogs eating so fast that they have to slow them down. Wendid have one for Bella when we first got her home but not for long.

So, I paid $80 dollars for asprin for two weeks??

Yup you paid 80$ of aspirin 🤷🏼‍♀️

Don’t cook the liver, try little thin slices see what she does. If she doesn’t want it, semi cook it in butter NOT margarine. Leave a line of blood in it. Omit brown rice, broccoli and green beans. Simply raw meat.

If that injection begins with an L… don’t use it. Lybria.. something like that, I’ve read real bad side effects from it

Why give an injection to replace an aspirin 🤷🏼‍♀️ As you probably know an others that know me, I’m not for any injections or yearly injections for pets. But that’s me. I’m against all chemicals. Our pets aren’t lab rats. Same for humans. A good clean diet n exercise is my moto. I do keep aspirins and benadryl for emergency or if I travel with the pups. But usually the due date has passed. I rather stick to whole foods.

I cant remember the name but they did say that it had been reported that it could cause seizures. Although thay hadn't seen that in any they have given it to.
We won't be doing that!
I have been able to get her to take the pill with peanut butter so far. As a matter of fact she has been a lot more active the last 3 days. So we skipped the pill yesterday. I don't like to take medication and surely don't want to give it to her if she doesn’t need it.

“it could cause seizures” 🤬

In all meds, there’s more dangerous side effects that the original problem!
Just start building her immune system. A bit of raw here and there is better than nothing.

If it is Librela, please do not give that. Before Jax passed a couple of months ago, he would be stiff and achy as well. He got turmeric paste, CBD oil and green lipped mussel powder. I know the turmeric past helped because sometimes I would get lazy and not make a new batch right away and I could see the difference. You can also try laser therapy and acupuncture.

I definitely won't be doing the injection. I had been able to get her to take the pill with peanut butter and actually she was doing so much better after a few days that I stopped them. It was teally cokd here too when she was looking achy. It warmws up quite a bit too so not sure if it was the pill or the weather (probably a both)
I will try the raw liver and the tumeric paste recipe.
Here are some pictures of the two of them! Looking grumpy. 😆

Oh Bella sweetheart, I'm sorry you are not 100% but you and Frank are pretty photogenic. Mommy knows how to take pictures.

Bella...I see you seek daddy's security...good girl. That is what Cooper does with me at the Vet. Dads are a security blanket.
