New to the forum, I've had my little English since he was about 16 weeks old. His name is Max and he will be 2 in September. He is my best buddy, helping me and my human kids get through a really rough divorce with his silliness. I got him through an ad on Petfinder. A lady local to me had purchased him at 8 weeks, then lost her job. at 16 weeks, he already needed cherry eye surgery in one eye and entropian in both. She could not afford the procedures and agreed to "give" him to me if I promised to have the procedures done, which I did. He's a terrific dog, but we has some socialization (with other dogs) issues in the beginning because she had been afraid to take him out places because his eye glands were so easily prone to cherry.
Then I met my bf, and he has an enormous (170 pounds) American Bulldog. For some reason, those two really hit it off, and now are BFFs. lol. He (Bubbers), taught my Max how to get along with other dogs with incredible patience. :D
I love my bully, but he does have some health issues. He's had three cherry eye surgeries (no, he does not have three eyes. lol. We elected for the pocket surgery and one of them had to be redone), bilateral entropian, and he's "denatured" (neutered) as my 8 year old sons says. We have been battling with food allergies his whole life, and his ears have a tendancy to be very yeasty and stinky (you know what I mean), but I think that has been due, in part, to his food allergy issues. We are still trying to find what is right for him. I'm thinking now that it may be a chicken allergy and am planning to switch him to a raw diet when I am done with summer school. Also, while he does not have a "tail pocket," we have booty problems because his poop is always very wet and his little tail is tacked down so close to his rump that poo gets stuck on the bottom of his tail.
Anyway, he and Bubbers (I posted a really small album on my profile) are my fur babies and I would not trade him. I'm a single mom, work full time as a photographer and part time as a substitute teacher, and am back in college, so I don't have as much time to spend with him as I wish I could.
Just wanted to introduce us and say hello! I'm so glad to have found this forum. I think the best people in the world own English Bulldogs! :D
