I cant believe that little UMPH ate the AC cord on my NEW AC! Good thing the weather just got cooler, um, just YESTERDAY. But it's a rainy day here and it's super humid and warm and I need my AC. Not to mention this AC was a pain to get in because someone  mis-measured the window.

This would have never happened on my watch. :cursing:

Can this be fixed or am up the creek without a paddle until next Spring? LOL

Oh my! My hubby says it can be fixed but he wanted to see the plug more clear. Emma started to chew on an extension cord for a lamp and I keep it unplugged now. All other plugs are hidden.

Gizmo got a lamp... the first time we didnt even know it..until my Nephew seen the sparks... she must of just gotten through the insulation, the second time, she bit the cord, the cord bit back. Lesson learned.

All thinks can be fixed.... it just depends on at what price :)

Someone who knows electric could change out the plug. Glad Herman wasn't hurt doing that.

Doesn't look like the wire itself is cut so that is good, so get some electrical tape and tape each wire separately, making several wraps around each wire and then tape around the whole thing. After the unit has been on for awhile check the cable to make sure it is not getting hot in the area of the tape.

IMHO replace the cord and the GFI. Probably easy to do. If you are not sure how to do it I am sure you know someone who can. Maybe an appliance repair place? Shouldn't cost too much.

Definately replace it with a GFI!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE, do it NOW!..

GFI or Ground Fault Interupter, will cut off the electricity to the cord if he chews it again... You are VERY lucky he wasnt electrocuted!

Thanks everyone, I'll see what can be done. My husband said he'll fix it... so I'll start shopping for a new AC LOL

Herman is 100% OK, but I think I'll need a new babysitter! :cursing:

Thank goodness Herman is okay!! How scary!!

Once you fix it rearrange the furniture so the cord cannot be reached, I have had some furniture in out of sorts spots just for this reason! Lol
