Canelo is having surgery tomorrow, Wed 2/21

Hi All,

I haven’t been on in quite a while. Work has been crazy, my fur babies and fids have been good, but recently Canelo has had issues with his eyes and skin. Tomorrow, Wed 2/21, he will have surgery for entropion in both eyes. I drop him off early in the morning and should pick him up in the afternoon. Yes I’m worried, I have confidence he will do well. I’m sharing my story to help other bully lovers if they run into this similar situation. I would love prayers though. Thanks!

Well we have a set back. I dropped him off, that was hard. As soon as he saw me leaving he turned into a brick and wouldn’t move so I had to walk him to the back. I didn’t want to leave him so I was stalling. Thirty minutes later they call me and tell me the vet that would be performing the procedure had called in and had a family matter. So we have rescheduled for tomorrow. We get to stress all over again in the morning.

Aww, sorry to hear! Our boy had this surgery as an older dog (for years told us to leave it alone but it got worse as he got older) and did great. Will they give you a comfy cone? (attaches to the collar, not hard plastic) Ours did better with that kind I think but did end up with a rash underneath it on his neck that we had to get a spray for, so keep an eye out for that! Your baby will be fine. They will probably give you meds to for the eyes for after as well but our boy never minded me doing anything with this eyes. Your boy will probably just hate the cone! Best wishes tomorrow!

Canelospeeps Praying for you(again!) that your surgery goes well, and you will be home and don't have too hard a time dealing with the dreaded cone! It will only take a couple of days to learn to live with it, Canelo. You will be okay, and don't complain too much. We send lot's of love to you!:pray::heart::heart::mansfriend:

Geez Groundhog Day. Don’t worry. When a doctor or vets cancels for family, I rather their heads are cleared before touching my dogs or myself. Better that way Lol... He’ll be fine, you’ll see. He’s got that!

I agree 100%. My biggest worry is loading and unloading him after surgery because he will have his cone on. I drive a Tundra crewcab and he can clear the back door with the cone but I don’t want him jumping. He loves car rides. They were very apologetic and offered to board him and feed him for the night. Nope, my baby must come home and he did!

I am ready for tomorrow to be over though so he’s back home.

Uggggg so sorry for the delay!!!! We remain strong in our prayers for a non eventful procedure and QUICK recovery for Canelo!!!

I just dropped him off... again. He got some love from other fur parents and when it was time to go to the back with the tech, NO! He turned into a brick not moving then a gelatinous puddle laying flat on the floor where he was standing, lmao!!! The tech won, he got Canelo up and walking. Now the wait....

Surgery update! My Chunky Man is home. I work from home and it was so quiet, no all day snoring and I hated the quiet. I was a horrible bully mom, they walked him to the waiting area and I burst out laughing at my huge, blue flower lol! He did good on the ride home, but walking him in the house had some bumps, literally. He walked in to my truck tire, then the corner of the garage followed by the bench. He was disoriented and I had to physically push him away from objects. I moved his kennel into the livingroom, fluffed itvup, took his cone off and put him in his kennel where he is sleeping.

Looks like he’s going to spend a lot of time in the kennel while he heals. Once he settles I share some pics and experiences with his recovery since others on the blog are looking at going thru this same procedure.

For now here is a pick of my blue flower after I got him in the truck. If you look at his eyes, you’ll see mucus from low tear production. The surgery was on the lower lids and the vet did an amazing job on the stitching.

I’m so happy he’s home!

I'm so glad he is home and doing well! And my, what a big cone you have there!! And yes, please, please keep us posted on his recovery! Louie's lower eyelids are the issue as well so I will be following Canelo's recovery journey and I hope it goes smoothly!

So glad you are home Canelo! Even though you spend time in your crate (without the cone) I know you could still scratch your eyes! Be careful!

There you go he's home and safe! That's a hell of a big cone. Did they ran out of smaller ones? Lol. Does he got in the kennel? Nice colour thought . Hehe
