Well I took her to the vet this afternoon. It wasn't our normal vet, it was a vet that practices out of the same office (wasn't ideal but I wanted her seen today).

They did an eye stain to check for ulcers or abnormalities of the surface of the eye and didn't find anything. She checked for pressure in the eyes and said there is some but at this point it isn't even moderate pressure.

She said that she thinks it is either the beginning of glaucoma or an allergy issue. She prescribed an antibiotic eye ointment for Bre so we can see if that helps. The vet also said that if it starts to get worse bring her back in, if it seems to be the glaucoma then they will send Bre to an eye specialist. We haven't changed anything for Bre diet-wise so I don't know if it could be allergies...then again it is the season for allergens and if there is an allergy to be had....a bully will find it!

She has also lost 9lbs since January of this year...not sure how I feel about that

9lbs..... a little concerning I would think.

I would definitely keep an eye on the weight loss to make sure she doesn't keep losing. As for the eyes, maybe it will be allergies and not something more serious. Keep us posted!

I would really be concerned with the weight loss as well. I hope the ointment helps her eye, it could be the beginning of something that you caught very early, that is good. Are you going to up her food intake? She does look a little smaller than I seen in her picture. You probably cannot tell as much seeing her everyday.

is she eating and pooping ok? And have you noticed any change in behaviour? Hopefully everything's good.

Over the last month she hasn't been as excited about food as she usually would be. She would eat half her dish...follow me around or nap...then at bedtime she would finish the rest. Today when I came home, she didn't want to eat at all. Normally she would get excited to see me and be underfoot because she knows it's time to eat when I get off work. But today she was asleep on the floor and didn't even wake up when I came home (she was sleeping in the room where the front door is). She doesn't seem to be in any pain or distress...just generally more sleepy and less energetic. She is still pooping fine...I don't know. I'm keeping an eye on her for signs of illness but other than this recent thing with her eye she doesn't have any symptoms of anything. Sadly, she may be going through a change of stages in life. We will just keep her comfortable and as happy as we can and see where this particular road takes us.

hm. maybe do fecal and urine tests? Those are relatively cheap and are usually done in hiuse. if nothing shows up, a blood test may be needed.

Sounds very concerning. Have you taken her temp?

You could try to add a little canned food or burger on her meal to change things up. 9 lbs in 5 months seems like a lot to me. Hope everything is ok with her.

Haven't taken her temp, with one of her recent (past few months) vet visits they did check a fecal for parasites and nothing came back.
She gets plain yogurt on her food about every other day which she seems to enjoy but usually ends up eating the yougurt off the top then comes back for the rest later.

I do remember you changed her diet from low quality kibble or whatever their previous owners were giving her to raw.. do you think she was overweight before and now she is at her weight? I sure hope this is so... I would probably have a blood test as well. not to scare you but my Boston began losing weight and feeling weak, she was only 6; after a round of antibiotics and no improvement, they did blood work and it turned out she had advanced leukemia.. within 2 weeks it took her away from us.. It still bugs me so much and I cry thinking about it.. I hope Bre has just shed her excess weight out!! I am praying for her!! keep us posted Andi!

She doesn't seem too thin to me...maybe it was just excess weight? There is no definition to her ribs even with a 9lb loss (I cant even see them). When the tech got her off the scale I mentioned that it was 9lbs less and she said "Good job Bre!"...is it possible that she was a little too "fluffy"? Man I hope so...
She has a follow up appointment in a week to recheck the eyes, and of course they said bring her in sooner if they look worse rather than better. :(
