Not sure if I have good news or bad news. The most important good news is that he is HOME! he had a severe episode of head shaking while at the vet, so she witnessed it first-hand. She feels he was alert and oriented through the episode, but was unable to re-direct him out of it, as you can with IHT. She really believes his vomiting and lethargy yesterday are unrelated to the head tremors. Blood work at her office was inconclusive except for mild anemia. So, she is suspecting a portalsystemic shunt- a birth defect that does not allow the liver to filter the toxins from the body. It can cause, GASTRIC distress, especially if fed a high protein diet! This sure would make sense with all the " good dog foods" I've tried that are high in protein and all the gastric issues he has had since I got him at 8 weeeks!! it also makes sense that his symptoms resolved when put on the low protein diet! It can also lead to seizures, stunted growth and a host of other things. The labs take 48-72 hours to get back and if they are normal, we'll be seeing a neurologist. So, he has some things going on, but we have no specific diagnosis yet. I am just happy to have him home. I will keep you posted, and thank you so much for all the prayers and well-wishes!!

Good news that he is home! Ruthie went through all those tests when she started getting head tremors and seizures. I'll be praying for you and Bogey in hopes that it was a one time thing and he gets better soon.

Oh Mary, I'm so glad he's home now, and seems to be doing better. It's wonderful that you have a vet that sounds like she's on top of it. So important with this breed.
Lots of hugs and kisses from me and Blue.

Sending positive vibes and good thoughts your way.

Well like you said that's good and bad news, but so happy it's not an obstruction. Glad he is home, and we will keep him in our thoughts.

Mary I'm so glad that Bogey is home now... At least you have a somewhat idea of what is going on. It sounds like your vet is on top of this, so that is always a great feeling... Hopefully Bogey will be back to his normal self soon!!! Sending prayers & hugs to you guys!!! :hug2:

Sending my prayers along with everyone else's for positive outcome!!

Oh Mary, so glad Bogey is home. Still sending prayers and good thoughts. Sounds like it could make sense of all of his gastric issues. Hoping he is doing better now that he's home and Mommy can take care of him!

Prayers will continue.... Very happy he is home with you

Good to hear Bogey is at home and I hope and pray the blood tests turn out ok.

I'm so glad to be reading this update, and that Bogey is back at home. I hope he continues to improve, and feel better, and that If its what the vet thinks, that it can be treated, and maintained by diet. Keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers. Love and hugs.

I'm so glad Bogey's home! I hope they've figured out the problem and can get him on the mend quick-like. Keeping you guys in our thoughts!

So glad you have your sweet Bogey home with you, Mary.

I hate knowing the stress & worry you & Hubby are feeling right now.

My prayers are with y'all and hoping Bogey, no matter what is dx'ed
will be fine and live a long, healthy life. Let us know and as I said, continuing
prayers over you & your Bogey. Sending hugs of comfort, hope & strength.
GOD bless.
