Hi,

I have a 15 week old bulldog puppy named Lucy. I have read many great things about antlers being a good chew toy. When I was going to purchase an antler from the pet store I was told the antler was too hard for my puppies teeth and wouldn't be good for her. This was when she was 6 weeks old though. Do you think I can now give her an antler, I would like to quell her chewing and bully sticks only last so long.

Thanks for any advice.

Bully Stix, pig ears and rawhides are choking hazards for these guys so I would stay away from them. I waited until mine was 4 months old to give her an antler so you should be fine. Stay away from the split ones as those tend to splinter. If you can get moose flat paddle I suggest that as it is not as big in diameter and from experience tends to last a bit longer. For deer and elk antlers just watch out for points that develop and sand them down or cut them off with a hacksaw if you see them.

You still need to keep a close eye on her as antlers can break teeth if they get real crazy with them.

You could try Nylabones… I know they have ones for puppies!!!

nylabones are great for puppies, I'd stay away from antlers until she loses her baby teeth and the new ones have grown in.

Lambeau has been chewing these since we got him at 9 weeks..... Nylabones and Kongs too
