Getting ready to lay down and I noticed a little black fleck on murphys forehead, thinking it was just dust or something like that I grabbed it.

It was a flea!!!a rather large one!

I checked him over thoroughly & that was it.

He got his flea medicine this morning!!
I do heartworm all year long and was going to flea in the warmer months.
Just so weird that I gave it to him today to start his couple months on it and one showed up.
Hope there aren't anymore!!

My husband asked
"Does he get a special bath if he gets fleas"

Yes and then the whole house needs to be bombed, everything needs to be washed etc. lol

But I mean what are the chances?!

Haha of course.
We haven't gone to desperate measures of bombing yet.
I guess he could of just picked it up while outside but still.
Leaving for the dunes today so putting all bedding in the washer before then.

We just have an exterminator come and do the house and yard every other month with pet safe chemicals. Never had a problem yet 3 of our neighbors are infested. We also use food grade DE along the fence line a few times a year to help out.

Perhaps the flea was preparing his home, and you put the "kabash" on his plans, just in time! Just check for flea dirt,that is the most telling!
