Wellie's in the Hospital.

Thanks everyone.

We saw him again tonight and stayed with him while he ate dinner.
His breathing is not 100%- still sounds raspy, but he's alert and happy. It's amazing how quickly he's improved, even from this morning.

The staff at AMC (Animal Medical Center) are wonderful. One of the techs told us he's their favorite patient because he's just so sweet. He's always ready for a rub and kisses. The epitome of the great temperaments bulldogs are known for.

Going back sometime tomorrow morning. I want to be there when they take the x-ray so I can speak with all the vets involved in his care.

Oh Ellie, i'm sorry i'm just seeing this now. I'm dealing with pneumonia myself and it's no fun at all. I am praying hard that Wellie continues to improve and comes home to you soon.

omg- hope you're staying off your feet and getting some rest!
feel better soon, Rosalie. You need to be very careful and really take care of yourself right now.

Sorry I missed this and so happy he is doing better, and hoping for a speedy recovery, so he can come home.

agingermom Yeah, it is.

But they need to figure out what caused it. Once it happens, the chances of it recurring are high. They're thinking it's the hernia along with the palate, but will know more when they speak with the specialist tomorrow.

Thanks everyone.

Hi Ellie, I'm so glad to hear Wellie is improving, and will be home soon. Can the hernia be repaired, so this doesn't happen again?

Thanks everyone.

so happy to hear he is recovering so quickly and doing well. to you all

Vet just called. He's breathing 100% this morning, had a good night and ran out of his crate for some lovin' when he saw the vet saw coming....lol. They didn't take an x-ray yet but said provided, it's not worse, they're putting him on oral antibiotics and we can take him home this afternoon since there's nothing they're going to be doing there, that we can't do at home. He did say they usually show physical signs of improvement before the x-rays are better but that's normal.

@Vikinggirl The hernia can be repaired.
They just want to be sure it's a "true" hernia, and wasn't caused by the position they put him in for the x-ray.
They're looking for the underlying issues.

Treating and sending him home is wonderful, but unfortunately, with this type of pneumonia, if they can't figure out the cause, it will probably happen again. That's what makes it so dangerous.

Thanks again everyone. :grouphug:

so happy he is doiing so weel and coming home to you today!! give him great big hugs and kisses from all of us!

Keeping him in my thoughts that they find the under lying issue so this does not happen again

Glad to hear Wellie is better. I guess we should hope for herina so there is a source for this?? I just hope the sweet boy gets everything resolve soon so he can enjoy his great new life!!
