Hooch
Hey!, how is everybody?..Just wanted to post an update on Hooch and his vomiting. As of Friday he has not thrown up, we have been giving him Pepsid and i went out and bought him a slow feeding ball to place in his bowl to slow down his eating and it was very comical at first, he tried to play with the ball and then barked at it a few times before he commenced eating, His eating habits are slowing down and no incidents to report yet so we are hopeful its just his eating fast and his food is not digesting properly and its just acid reflux and nothing more than that. It is only Sunday but we are hopeful, my girlfriend is also givng him 4 small meals a day to see if that makes a difference as well. I have a bulldog specialist on standby if the problem persists but again Im hopeful we have solved this, its just frustrating when we fix an issue and then a new one arises, I had not realized how stressful taking care of this guy can be at times and i see it affects my girlfriend as well. Talk to you all soon

So glad he is doing better. I've been using a feeding ball with my guy for a couple of weeks and it seems to really have slowed down the eating. Tonight I fed him without it and he took his time, so we may not need it much longer. The vet said they eat like that because of their littermates, whoever ate fastest got more. That makes sense and hopefully they will slow down, since they are not competing for food now. Good Luck and keep us updated.

Great to hear he is coming along. keep us posted --- they are a lot of work, but the love they give back is ten-fold.

It can be a lot of work and frustration finding what works best for these special guys and gals. But the love and complete adoration they give you in return makes it all worthwhile, doesn't it? :love:

Oh that's good news to hear. I know Cooper11 has been having some problems with her bully eating to fast and throwing up. She's going to look for a slow feeder bowl for Cooper. Glad Hooch is doing better. :)

glad he is feeling better.

Do you use slow feed bowl? is so can i ask what one do you have???

I used this one food bowl.JPG

I know that stainless steel is best but this was the only one they had at the time.
I wash it daily and I havent had any issue with Jack's hygiene...

@Cooper11

With this particular model, their mouth (or snout ) does not fit inside the bowl entirely.
So he/she is forced to eat whatever they can reach from each compartment. They have to work their way around the bowl..
What used to take Jack 20 seconds to eat, now takes him about 3-4 minutes.

The other version is the steel ball. It moves around while the dog is eating thus interrupting him... I think both work equally well....
