Chesty will be going to the vets again this week his allergies are out of control I feel like i have tried every dog food possible and nothing is working for him. So he has to be allergic to something else other than Chicken and grains. I wanna get an allergy test done on him so I can find out what else he is allergic to, I guess i'll have to talk to the vets about that hope it's not super expensive either. I'm just so frustrated. 1453375_10201453028626652_1521925784_n.jpg 1459719_10201453028986661_2053640647_n.jpg 1390466_10201453029306669_1761884202_n.jpg sorry they might be a little blurry but he didn't want pictures of his rash taken /: these pictures do no justice they are worse than what the pictures show.

Katielyn, I spent the $$ on allergy test, the thing is they can take almost a year to work if given shots, I go by trial and error. Just when I think I have found the right food and it can be months, all of a sudden Vegas has allergies. I opted out of the shots, not because of the $ but because even the vet agreed it would not be a cure all. Vegas's allergies are 90% environmental here in FL. so there is not much I can do but to keep him comfortable with baths with Pharmaseb (anti fungal-yeast shampoo) and wiping him down daily. The test alone was almost $300. and to find out it is environmental which I have no control over was worse. I just do the best I can. Vegas eats grain free/gluten free food. But as of today he has very goopy eyes, and his chin is broke out bad.

KMARINO yeah i'm just so frustrated, I feel like i'm constantly giving him benadryl ....and i already know what my vet is going to say,she is going to say he needs to go see a specialist for his allergies and they one she wants me to go to is ridiculous, So i am thinking about switching vets in all honesty. My mom's one co-worker has a bully and she takes her bully to banfield, she says they are amazing so I might try there, But i heard they can do bloodwork and test for allergies that way so i will have to ask and find out. i'm just stressed because now i'm back to square one with finding him dog food, may i ask what you feed Vegas?

I'd switch to Zyrtex or another allergy med, Benedryl doesn't work for many.

What foods have you tried so far, Katie?

Hey how old is Chesty?? If less than two, the blood test will need to be done again after two as they are still developing until then. I think you should get the test if he is suffering that much, it at least gives you a good baseline to know what to avoid, but remember the blood test is not 100 % accurate! but it helps.

also, do you wipe his chin/face after he drinks or eats?

Texas Carol he is 15months, I've tried natural balance ( this seemed to work best)....taste of the wild, core wellness, acana, blue, California natural, and he is currently on Fromm.

2BullyMama chesty is 15 months and yes I am always wiping his face after her eats and drinks. But I think I might get the blood test done in hopes it will tell me more!. Because I'm at my wits end with these allergies.

allergies are brutal .... he is not far from two, i'd get the blood test done if i were you

I am currently having the same struggle with Jagger. He is not as severe as Chesty right now. He take OTC allergy medicine and temaril p from the vet. And he still get the spots on his face, his ears are red along with parts of his legs and feet. Jagger is only 9 months old and my vet has suggested the allergy test now and again after he is two. Jagger eats an organic - vegetarian food and that has worked best for him

Hope all goes well

We have Sheldon on the 4Health Grain Free the Beef and Potato formula and he LOVES it, AND I haven't had any issues with loss of hair other than the normal shedding (of course I use Salmon oil or Coconut oil on his food as well) no redness or rash on his chin or muzzle.

Ugh I am so sorry. Allergies can be absolutely miserable! I hope that you find out soon what's bothering him!

Chin rashes where something very common with my foster dogs -they usually came and go at different times per year
Not sure what else you could do it could be something seasonal ,or something he might grow out of -lets hope xx

I've just started the allergy shots for my frenchie mix. It's too early to see any changes but I really hope there is some relief for him in the future. He doesn't have food allergies (but we are still feeding them Fromms pork and peas because the quality if food is just better).

In conjunction with the shots we still need to give him oral meds (atopica) and a topical med (medicated shampoo). Again like others mentioned the vet said it would take about a year to see any results. One of our problems is we are a military family so we are moving soon next year so he will then be exposed to other things he is allergic to so we may need to start this process over again. Totally will be worth it if he starts growing his fur back around his chest and neck again.

Allergy shots didnt work for us ,but they do have some success rate for others ,but from what vet told is the "mixture" is created that works for all the things your baby might be allergic to
Our vet thought us how to give Shy her shots so we didn't have to visit vets to often
I think we payed £100 for a year supply of shots
