I'm gonna begin with this, I have an awful memory & tend to ramble.
We shall now begin...
When I first got to work, I was taking Chubbs out to go potty before we went into the store. Then some woman came into the parking lot & slammed on her brakes, put the SUV in park, left it running & came running out. She ran over to us yelling: a baby bully, omg, and on my Stella's 1 year passing anniversary! She grabbed Chubbs, picked him up & started hugging, kissing, & playing with him as if he was hers. I was sad to hear about her bully's passing but put down MY bully you complete stranger!!! I was completely dumbfounded. We always seem to attract crazy people around here.

But then something good happened...
We got a free consultation from a specialist! At first I didn't know the guy was a vet, thought he was just another bully lover. He finally mentioned who he was. I slowly told him everything, who my regular vet is, what she said is wrong with Chubbs, the specialist she recommended... everything. I was happy to hear that my regular vet is spectacular (like I didn't already figure that out, lol). Also, the specialist our vet recommended is one of the best in the area but overpriced for the area.
Okay, so the vet that stopped into my work literally gave me a free consult. He checked Chubbs' eyes & felt for his testicles (1 has finally dropped & the other is on it's way down, yay, lol.) He told me exactly what he does in surgery, gave his recommendations, and what he would charge. No payment plan but hubby & I were approved for care credit, which this vet accepts.
Yes, he gave me his business card & of course I looked him up. I looked at reviews & everything. He's been specializing in dogs with smushed faces.
And to think I was gonna let Chubbs stay at home today, ha!
So Dr. M explained everything.
Eyes: he takes out 60% of the duct leaving just enough for the body to make it's own tears thus no daily eye drops, hopefully. He'll be able to fix the entropion (eyelash issue) & the right eye which he said the name but can't remember ... starts with an 'o' I believe. Dr. M said if we don't get the eyes fixed soon, like in the next couple of weeks, it won't be good!
He's been doing this surgery for years & hasn't had a client get dry eyes to date (watch Chubbs get it if we go thru with this vet.)
Neuter: he usually suggests waiting the 6 months, preferably 10-12 months for a bully. However, with Chubbs' eye problem he suggests getting both done at the same time! But he's only 4 months (next week.) The Doc explained something about how if you get the neuter done earlier than X occurs & if you wait then Y occurs. Something about if you care/don't care about the size of his head. Make sense to anyone???
The other thing Dr. M mentioned is that bully's need a different kind of anesthesia than other doggies. Because of their smushy faces, they need a kind where they can wake up from surgery quickly so pain medications can be administered & more importantly, they can breath. Has anyone heard of this???
Apologies for the long post. Suggestions? Thoughts?
