I am not sure what this is. It is close to his butt and has come to a head and burst. He has had it about 2 weeks and it doesn't appear to be changing. Any ideas? Anything in particular I should put on it?

Hmm.... it looks like a pimple almost. I would keep it clean, with some witch hazel, maybe apply a little neosporin, and keep your eye on it. See if it kinda heals over in a few days.

When it did burst, was it blood or some other type of fluid?

A mixture of a little bit of blood and pus. Nothing much of either. I have put Sulfodene on it but it hasn't changed. This morning I cleaned it well and put Witch Hazel on it and was going to leave it dry for a couple of day, see what happens. It does look like a pimple!

Agreed --- give it a few days. My first thought is one of those hysto-thingys that are harmless and go away in a few weeks, but they are hard and bleed when broken.

Now i might be way off base , do you have tics in the UK just thought I would bring it up as a suggestion

Thanks for the suggestion. I live in Texas actually so anything is possible! I don't think it is a tick however as I am pretty sure I would have seen it because of the positioning. It's kind of hard to explain but it's where the hair goes in different directions so the hair is not so thick there.

Check your profile sorry about that
What about a ingrown hair if it is at what we would call a cow lick I wonder
Hope it clears up for Monty

An ingrown hair is definitely possible. I am keeping it clean and using Witch Hazel and will see how we go. If it starts to look worse I will take him to the Vet.

I should change my profile to 'From England', not so confusing!

Like others said, keep it dry and clean. Hopefully it starts to scab over in a day or so.

It may have been a cyst. I would get some NuStock, which is good for many things, and follow directions. It is a good ointment to have on hand. Get it at a feed supply,or Co op.
