Hi, everyone! This morning Powers got up and went straight for his food bowl to go through just about everything in it. His diarrhea is gone and stool is taking a solid shape again (probably due to actually eating). He pretty much seems like his normal self now, minus the regular jaw movements.

Got home from work, let him out of his kennel and he once again went straight for his food. I guess the hunger is catching up to him. He cleaned out the bowl and then I gave him a refill of his dry/soup mix again, at which he ate about half of that second helping. His energy is back, his smiles are back, Powers is for the most part back. He'll be going to his regular vet tomorrow after work to just make his rounds (he's a celebrity over there), and we'll monitor him closely these coming months. I hope I'm not repeating myself too much, I keep writing the same stuff on several different places, haha.

Here are a few more pictures. The first two were on Monday when I got to take him home (I just like the one with the vet tech because he looks like a loaf of bread) and then the third was us getting some TV time in after dinner. Good night, everyone!

Hahhhhh, he does look like a loaf of bread!!! I love it! I'm so proud of him for being such a trooper & fighter!

I'll be curious to see what the vet says about his jaw. Also wouldn't hurt to get 2nd opinion perhaps from a specialist.

We all appreciate the updates, and especially love the pics. Sweet boy back home with daddy [emoji170][emoji190]

Start a new thread tomorrow after his appointment so we can start fresh :)

Thank you so much for regularly updating us. Great to hear that he's improving each day. Maybe his lack of appetite was really due to the pneumonia and not his jaw? It was amazing how you did not give up hope and continued to find solutions. Powers is absolutely lucky to have a dad like you.

AWESOME!! love the pictures and who cares if you posted or repeated, this is great progress and we are all very happy Powers is progressing and EATING on his own!! Great job and keep the updates and pictures coming!

I'm so happy for you both!! He's making a speedy recovery which is great.

Do you plan on keeping him on softer food for now? Maybe the wet version of his dry kibble? It would help with the pain when he eats. Easier on his jaw ya know?

Love the pics and thank you for keeping us updated. Please don't stop!!

Two handsome guys! So glad he is on the mend!

Oh my goodness! I've just caught up on this thread, Chip. What an ordeal this has been for you and Powers! I'm so proud of you for following your heart and not giving up on him. I also think the appetite problem was probably the pneumonia and possibly the meds, but also being away from home and you. I am so happy that he's eating now--that's wonderful news, and I think now he will get stronger and stronger.

Can I ask where you live in Dallas? I live in Richardson. I was wondering what emergency vet you were using? I should have read about the bone disease before I posted this because I'm not familiar with it. I do know that there is a building full of all kinds of veterinary specialists on Trinity Mills on the west side of the Tollway. I've been referred there by my regular vet several times for different dogs of mine with different issues. We've seen an orthopedist, an oncologist and an opthomologist (did cherry eye surgery on our last bulldog). You might ask your regular vet about them. They are excellent doctors and I think you need a referral to go there. Maybe another opinion from a specialist about the bone issue would be good? fitchalcyone

Everyone has given you such great advice here. I just love this wonderful community of caring folks! :luv::luv::luv::heart::heart::heart:

Hi, everyone! Sorry that I've been away for a few days. My mother's birthday was on Saturday so I spent most of the weekend visiting her and the family.

Jessica, Powers has been doing well. The vet appointment was basically just for him to be seen by his regular vet and the staff (six of them came into his room giving him all forms of smothering, glad that he made it through). She sent me with some probiotics to give with his food for a bit. Also, when his antibiotics are finished, we'll be doing another chest x-ray just to make sure we're clear of any pneumonia symptoms. A bit of an unrelated question, but is Bil Jac really a bad food? Everyone I've talked to has seemed pretty approving of it, though I noticed the food section on the forums here gives it a very low rating. Any insight as to why?

Donna, I actually live in Richardson, too! Close to Richland. The emergency vet I used was in Mesquite off Belt Line and Northwest Drive. The reviews seemed quite favorable, so I didn't mind the extra drive. As for the disease, so far it's been practically new territory for all involved, but everyone seems to be in agreement based on his x-rays. From the reading I've done, the disease isn't directly fatal, so I'm hoping he'll manage through in these coming months. But I'll definitely keep that Trinity Mills location in mind should something come up again. While the emergency vet was good, I am still open to another location if needed.

Thanks again, everyone! I'm gonna try to finally post up a "happier" introduction sometime this week.
