Does anyone carry pet insurance on their bully?

Noooo but I forgot that we were considering it! You just reminded me! haha although olaf has been pretty healthy.....hmmm

I had pet insurance when I got my first bullie, but almost everything is considered congenital with these dogs and I found I saved more by signing up for the wellness plan at my vet....the reimbursement from the insurance company was really poor, so now I don't have to pay for office visits or vaccines and get a percentage off any in office procedures. Save hundreds in my pocket instead of the insurance company.

I have insurance on my Cocker through Trupanion...they are great! They DO cover congenital defects. It covers 90% with 0 deductible (This is the plan I am on)_ I pay $39 a month, but my cocker has had 4 eye surgeries so far, so I guess I have gotten my monies worth. :D

i put the money i would put towards pet insurance into a savings account just for my dogs.

i had pet insurance for a short lived time and found that everything i needed help with, wasn't covered for some reason or another. so i quit pet insurance and started a savings account for them.

Which company did you use for Pet Insurance? I thought about doing the savings account, but then I thought about it and my $39 wouldn't go very far if my boy needed surgery. I have been with Trupanion for 2 years now and I have no complaints.

I've had pet insurance for all my bulldogs over the years but the costs are now becoming prohibitive. I am based in the UK so initially had the Kennel Clubs & then changed to Petplan but as bullies are regarded as a superbreed the premiums are high & as stated above nearly everything is seen as a congenital problem & excluded. I have to say in Bulldogs defence that in recent years the breed has been getting more healthy & they are living longer - well done to the reputable breeders.
