Those are cute babies!! I can't imagine having that many bully babies to love! I wouldn't be able to part with any of them so I guess that is why I would never be able to breed them!! They sure are sweet babies!!!

They are beautiful. Congrats. Sleeping much, lol

Sounds like you are doing things right so far.

For the poo, remember what you feed mom goes to the pups. Try not to give her too complicated of food, keep it simple and allow her to eat as much as she wants while nursing.

Is it normal for the moms not wanting to eat a few days after giving birth? I entice her food with cottage cheese and other things but she smells it and walks away. Today she's only eaten about 1 - 1.5 cups of food. What can i do and should i be worried? Also i took her temp about a half hour ago and she was 102.6.

They are adorable. I am delighted to know that there isn't one white one in the bunch. Otherwise, I would have had to march over to your house and demand that puppy. LOL

You are taking good care of things, it sounds like to me! Thankgoodness we have Lisa, David and the other baby-experts to help you!

How adorabull are they!!!!!!!!! :luv:

Your babies are beautiful!

Sorry, I know nothing about Mom's not wanting to eat but I would be concerned with that and the elevated temp. I'd check with your vet.

Hello,
Congrats on the new litter. Keeping track of the weight is very important. From your post it seems to indicate the puppies were newborns?
But the color of the poo seems wrong for newborns?

The first several days are usually a black thick gel. Sorry for the gross descriptions :blush2:

Good that you are tracking the weight. Just to make sure you know, the puppies WILL loose weight for up to 3-4 days and then start to gain back the weight. Each of our past liters have lost weight and then back to birth weight by day 4-5. The fist few days of milk is the colostrum and takes a day or so for the milk to really start getting flowing. Also newborn puppies are very weak and lazy and take a few days to get going. We leave the puppies on as long as they want. At first it takes up to 45 minutes per nursing. As they get bigger the time will get shorter and down to 15-20 minutes. We keep tracking the weight until they max out our 2 lb scale.

As for the poo, yes orange is the next normal color. Up until week 4 the poo will be very soft almost thin ribbons. Once other sources of nutrients are added such as formula supplement, the color and texture wont change. By week 4.5 - 5 the stool becomes a bit more firm.

Good Day~:)

Hello,

The normal temp is 101 so any elevated temp is reason for concern as well as not eating. Check with VET !

Completely agree! Check her incision fir her csection, also check her breasts. If any of them seem hard or swollen get her to the vet asap!! If you have to bottle feed due to a sick mom use goat milk (it's expensive but worth it). The powders cause nasty diarrhea.
