I was wondering if anyone has had the allergy test done on their bullys........ if they fell it was worth it in the care of the bully

ABSOLUTELY!! Worth every penny. It will save you so much headaches and save you bully a lot of pain and discomfort. We went a year, my boy was always vomiting and our vet thought it was tummy issues so we were feeding chicken and race (bland diet).. turned out after we did the alleegy test he is highly allergic to rice. Once we got that out of his diet... the vomiting stopped.

You will find many, many members with similar stories.

yes yes yes.. I spent hundreds of dollars on food trials, meds, creams and vet visits.. finally went to a vet dermatologist had it done and found out Duke was allergic to wool.. we had wool blankets all over our house.. removing these got rid of 80 % of his issues.. he is also allergic to some molds so we stay on top of things now but to find out what it was was a huge help to us.. I tell people now just go find out.. I am a 100 % fan of a GREAT diet also.. we have Duke on NVI food and it made his coat and energy level really good.

Good Luck to you. :)

Nice to see you here..Debbie! Jump right in and ask any questions you have..someone will come along and be able to help! I don't have experience with the tests..but I can see you are getting great advice!

I can't comment too much on this, but everybody on here who has had it done speaks very highly of it!!!

Hi Debbie and welcome to EBN. I decided to have the test done even though I wasn't really having any issues with Wilson, he just turned 9 months. I was surprised when I got the report back that it was 5 pages long and showed everything he was allergic too, way more than I thought would show up. It showed grasses, molds, foods, etc. Food wise though I found out he's allergic to chicken, pork, rice and soybean. Luckily all were foods I've been avoiding. It put me at a piece of mind just knowing hadn not having to play a guessing game everything he might have an issue with something. Go get it done, it's $$ well spent.

Just had the blood allergy test done today. ACTT Combo1, $259 sent to Bio-Medical Services. Won't know the results for 2-3 weeks. From the test results he will be given a series of allergy shots if we choose that path. . My dog was on Atopica with no real improvement and his allergies were spiraling out of control. Will keep ya posted. For now back to antibiotics, prednisone and yeast meds to get control of his allergies and skin problems.

debbie cash, i don't have experience w/allergy tests either but am curious about it as well. Btw, i really love the names of your bully's--Tonka and Diesel!

I bet we are going to have it does with Chaos. He still is broke out, goes back to the vet tomorrow. But here he said it is $440 and up :shout: I need to find A $150 place like some of you have

The 600-800 dollar test my vet spoke about is actually not just blood work, it's a full on allergen test where they shave off some of the hair and introduce allergens under the skin. Very involved. Multiple visits.

Good to know that stuff isn't just more expensive here in the Seattle area. ha ha

:welcome: debbie cash ...... Looks like you have gotten good feedback on the allergy test. Please do an intro for your bullies and include pix or you will see;:pics:..... LOL... Just kidding. Welcome to EBN. :)

If you're having major problems with allergies, I say go ahead with the testing. Was going to do one for Stig and scheduled for one but we were able to find the right diet for him a few days before the big day, so we cancelled. It costs around $400 here as per my vet.
