Hey that's our food!

What awesome pictures!!! Nyala and Jake are stinkin adorable!!

Strange that magpies are only in western North America, I've never seen one here in Toronto. The crows and ravens we have here are quite sinister looking.

I’ve never seen them either in Quebec nor the maritimes .... guess eastside climate isn’t for them. Too cold? Idk.

Funny I was preparing the dogs food this morning and it was sitting on the phone wire outside looking at me. Going to turn into the movie THE BIRDS lolll

I should call it the adventure of Nyala, Jake and the Magpie....Gave the pups their fish snack n yes, da Magpie came back. Even went for Jake’s poop. Jake decided to poop where we removed the deck to rebuild a new one. Magpie was standing on the pool to get ready for a poop snack. Ewwww

Soon magpie is going to have you trained and putting out snacks and frozen raw food for it in its own bowl.

What a great video that would be! Magpies, ravens and crows are extremely smart, and can be taught to talk. Seems this one is a great babysitter and exercise trainer, too!!
So entertaining!!

Magpie trying to steal some of the pups food. Fat chance!

Was in the kitchen doing something in front of the window. I see it often sitting on the wire looking at me what doing. Weird feeling lol.

So.... I’m walking towards the pooping pen and what do I see? Dog poop on top of my fence in a row!!! Fregen magpies!!! They pick up the poop but now they leave it on top of the fence. I usually pick it up as soon as the pups poop but with the snow fall we had it’s always harder to find. Now I don’t need to look down but up! Little bastards.

I love these pictures,,,, both of the bird and your pups!!! I have a love for crows and these magpies are gorgeous imho ;) But poop on the fence???????? how weird is that!!!!

helsonwheels - We're starting to have a coyote problem in Toronto besides our raccoon problem. They're eating people's smaller dogs and outdoor cats and aren't easily scared away by noise any more. Any problems with that out west?

By the way, if the magpie is bothering you , you could probably hit it by swinging a tennis racket. We did that once with a bat inside the cottage and knocked it unconscious, then picked it up with the racket and threw it outside.

Coyotes are getting bad here in Alberta especially in Calgary. They wondered in the city’s back lanes trying to find food, attacking people, kids n pets. As you know the prairies is much flatter less trees so you always see them in the fields/farms roaming around or laying dead on the highways. My friend lives on an acreage and she walks her dogs every morning. She’s always on the lookout for coyotes on her walks. About a month ago she lost 9 chickens within a week. On my FB a mom was filming a coyote up her patio door growling nastily at her toddler on the other side of the glass, in your area caught on camera 2 coyotes jumped the fence snapped up a smaller dog but the owner ran outside barefoot yelling n making himself big so the coyotes took off. He was lucky as coyotes don’t usually take off from humans anymore. Here farmers have donkeys roaming around with their farm animals as donkeys will go after coyotes or cougars. Time to shoot/trap them. It’s getting out of hand n no one is doing much about here.

They are trying to help clean up the yard as payment for the food!
