I have been looking at Petmeds and Chewy for a supplement that I can give Missy - my mixed breed who has Cushings. Does anyone have any suggestions. I think this should have been created in a different forum. Sorry

Thanks - I looked at the website and it has a lot of helpful information.

My boxer did have cushings and I ended up on a cushings forum... there was invaluable information on there from other pet owners. Do you have a FB account? They were actually on FB, and I can give you a name of my friend who helped me tremendously on there...

Unfortunately, I am not on facebook - I'm an old luddite. . . .

I think I mentioned this to you in another thread, but my Frenchie mix had Cushing's and he was never treated for it (long story short, we had a lot of tests done and they kept showing negative). We suspected it when he turned 7.

He ended up passing away from a gastro surgery at 9 because the Cushing's disease prevented his body from healing. The specialist at that time confirmed the Cushing's

The endocrinologist attributed his otherwise good condition to giving him 1000mg fish oil pill daily. The only reason why we gave him these pills is because, we stopped once, and his nails would become brittle and he would start losing fur (Symptoms of Cushings). Once we started him on them again, his fur grew back and his nails were strong again.

So I 100% recommend fish oil pills.

So far, her nails are good and she hasn't lost any fur. Her last blood work showed the liver in a normal range, but her belly is soooo big. She is very uncomfortable. I do not know what to do to make it better. She eats, drinks, plays like normal, just uncomfortable lying down. She is on her meds for the cushings, heart enlargement and murmur.

Poor girl... I wish I had some insight.. sending lots of hugs

Dollys Owner posted a great fish oil. Make sure it’s mercury free as if it’s fish from the Asian areas, stay away from them.

Thank you! I am reading a lot about the fish oil. I got Nordic as a recommendation. I am going to start there and see what happens.
