Hello

Bode is beautiful! He looks like he was having such a great time playing in the snow. :) Unfortunately, snow and ice can cause injuries in doggies as well as humans. I do hope he gets well soon so he can get back to play time.

:smileywelcome:

Ace's surgeon told us that it was a 50/50 chance that he'd blow the other leg out and he did 1.5 years later. Not sure what the 'notch' in the bone surgery is if that's the TPLO they're talking about or not. It's an incredible surgery and Ace was like wonder dog when he recovered. That surgery is an extensive recovery though 4-6 months full due to the plate and screws inserted into bone and the bone is rotated. Let us know what they say. I'd really like to follow this. Ace tore his out by running after a basketball. He had one speed, rocket speed, and was hard on his legs.

I enjoyed the video thoroughly, he's awesome !!!

Hi there - I also had a bully that had not one, but two ACL repairs - one at 10 months and one at 20 months.

It's good you are getting a second opinion and consulting a specialist, who has performed the procedure many, many times. It's a rough go and it's not cheap but the good news is that the prognosis is excellent. My bully that tore both ACLs lived until the end of his days running and moving comfortably on his repaired knees.

If you have any specific questions before or after your appointment, please feel free to message or tag me! I am happy to share any advice and experiences. Hang in there - your baby will be just fine, though I know it's not easy!

First of all Happy Easter to everyone!! We are also Thankful for support and info coming in for possible surgery. I will definitely tell my buddy about this site and how everyone has been real helpful and warm to us. His EB was suffering from seizures and is doing better now.

Hi Rick!

Your boy Bode is such a cutie. Loved watching the video of him enjoying his snow trail. I hope everything will go well and smoothly w/Bode's vet appt. and subsequent possible surgery. You have a lot of support on this forum.

Hello Rick .... welcome to you and Bode.

I have experience with the torn ACL... twice. Our boy, Nitshcke tore his and two months after repair the replacement snapped. What we did was cleared a bedroom of furniture, placed a mattress on the floor and took turns sleeping with him. We baby gated the door so he could move around , but no jumping running or stairs for 6 months (yes, months because he snapped the repair). Everything was great after about 8 weeks... then he started limping again.

let me know if you have any specific questions and I will hopefully be able to help

Hi 2BullyMama, We have been reading and accepting all advice on this pending surgery. Currently Bode's set up is a 12x6 play area that he stays in and usually goes in and out of on his own. We let him free roam the house when we're home. He's kinda funny at times b/c he will put himself to bed if we don't. So he is very comfortable in his area.

hi there and :welcome: to ebn. sarah had a tore acl when we got her. she had the surgery and she is doing fine and luckily she has never needed one for the other leg. she did really well and recovered nicely. must not have been the invasive surgery cause her recovery was like a month or something. have your buddy join we have someone here who can help with seizures as well. :2thumbs:

Hello & Welcome! So sorry I can't be of any help with the injury, but I certainly hope your boy is back to his normal self soon.
I loved the video! The "exit ramps" where he can use the bathroom are just too cute. He looks like he's really enjoying the ability to run around in the snow. If you didn't have a snow blower I'd sure hate to have to do even a fraction of what you did with a shovel! Looks like you certainly got a ton of snow! Burrrr

Well unfortunately it's official.Bode is at surgeons having TPLO:cry:.Now just waiting to hear from doctor:pray:. Thank for all input, will keep updating!
