Hi All,

Wondered if anyone has or knows this problem with there bulldog.

Frank is nearly 2. Healthy good weight etc..
A few weeks ago I noticed him not putting much weight on his back leg mostly after he had been led down or sat for a while.
Once he's up and moved a bit it's not as obvious.
Taken him to the vets they have gave me pain killers for 2 weeks.
The vet has said she thinks it's his knee a commen problem in bulldogs.
Like a cross section and his is disjointed and says if one goes more than likely the other will.
Anyone had similar problems?

Was there a X-ray done for the vet to say that? Bulldogs gets often the “finger pointing“ for all sorts n never diagnose properly. Has he jumped off from a sofa or something? I personally use essential oils on my dogs. And of course yes, definitely a dog can have joint, muscle issues. Why he would need an X-ray or screening to be sure before popping pills which will weaken his immune system. Then you’ll have another problem. Any meds a dog takes even humans, make sure you also add to the diet fermented food like sauerkraut, Greek yogurt , kefir, raw liver as toppers.

See an orthopedic specialist if this issue persists past 2-3 weeks. Bulldogs are prone to injury like people. Sometimes all that’s needed is time to heal. Other times the injury needs to be surgically repaired. Without an X-ray, your Vet’s guess & advice is useless.
Hip dysplasia is somewhat common, more than luxating patella. Vet should be able to feel a patella issue. Hip dysplasia easily seen on X-ray.
