Diesels left eye (His left, right if we were looking at him) has always been more red/bloodshot looking. The vet has never questioned it or even mentioned it and it has been there since his well check up and shot appointments. I didn't think much of it since I know some bulldogs have more red eyes and such but the more i paid attention the more it bothered me. Its almost like the eyelid covers more of his eyeball than the other eye. I have attached some pictures. Let me know if anyone thinks I should be concerned or take him in for it. Also on his other eye there is a bump growing, not sure if it is a mole, skin tag or what it could possibly be. I have attached the picture of the small bump as well. Any help would be appreciated as I don't think my vet is common with english bulldogs. I took him in about some of his nails growing a little sideways and they just told me it could be his breed, which I thought was a weird response. IMG_2994.jpgIMG_2995.jpgIMG_2997.jpgIMG_3721.jpg

What a handsome boy! I'm not sure if there is any reason for concern or not, but you might want to take him to an eye specialist. They have a whole range of instruments and knowledge you won't find in standard vets. Castor has eye problems and has seen eye specialists to confirm his diagnosis, and now his vet can prescribe meds and check with the specialist if needed.

Sounds like your vet is not too knowledgeable, and I would certainly find another Vet, one who knows English Bulldogs hopefully. I think these need to be looked at, and the vet you went to sounds like a dud. If you say where you live, someone might be able to recommend one. JessicaK11

I live in Tolar Texas if that helps, thank you so much.

When a vets says..... “it could be his breed” Time to start vet shopping. Great advice above. There’s a list of vets in here but maybe someone will answer you to your specific area. Just hang on.

Btw Jake is having the same issue. Was a lash n the vet twisted it back out. I got to go back again now. :)

Thank you so much, I will call them in the morning and make an appointment. I appreciate y’all’s help and finding one. I love this site.

We used to drive an over an hour to see a Bulldog specialist in the UK (unfortunately now retired :() but the trip was always worth it, he could literally diagnose what was wrong in one visit after multiple visits to other vets.

Its so reassuring to know they have seen so many bulldog conditions before.

Hope everything goes ok

Just wanted to update everyone. I called the Cityview Animal Hospital and the receptionist was very rude and said that they do not see english bulldogs and have asked to be taken off the list previously. I looked on the list and called the Arlington Heights Animal hospital who is also in Ft Worth, and she was very helpful and said that they see many english bulldogs and are very knowledgeable on the breed. The Dr. who is listed on the list unfortunately retired but she said his son does it now and works there and would love to see Diesel. We will be going on Monday. Thank y'all so much for helping.

Wow. There was no need to be rude. I wouldn't take any breed there after that! Glad to hear Arlington Heights was friendly and helpful. Please let us know how it goes.

I will definitely keep everyone updated. Hopefully its nothing, and he is fine. This was from this past weekend at my daughters softball tournament waiting for the game to get over to start. He truly is my buddy and I'm so attached already. I couldn't imagine anything serious already being wrong with him :( IMG_1747.jpg

So cute!! It could be third eyelid issue, which is common in bullys.... the little bump could be a Hysto-thingy (I have a brain block with the name) but they are harmless and the body takes care of them.

I was coming to update everyone after my vet appointment yesterday morning. Absolutely would recommend this vet 100 Percent to anyone looking for one around the dfw area. Vets around here are still doing curbside with the covid BS and this doctor actually came out introduced himself and talked to me for a while and had me address any concerns about Diesel. The last vet I took him too, the doctor never did that. It was only there receptionist bringing him in and out. This one really took the time to get to know me and Diesel even with curbside. He told me how beautiful of a dog Diesel was and how excited he was to have him as a patient. He said he is so healthy and kept repeating himself over and over how good looking he was. Now for his eye he wasn't too concerned since he is so young and it isn't that bad anymore (Of course it gets better the day of the vet appt. never fails) But he wanted to treat it with some over the counter drops so it doesn't get any worse or even develop (Cherry eye). He said its probably allergies and nothing too concerning. He called it mild conjunctivitis. He had me get Zaditor, so we will use that and since I have taken the pics I posted it does look better already. Allergies are bad here in Texas they even kill me all the time. He also noticed some discharge on his prepuce and he flushed it with saline. The other vet never even mentioned that or even looked at that because i noticed it but thought it was just his puppy pee being cloudy. He said it could be an early infections or related to him maturing. He never licked or itched it so the said he was surprised it didn't bother him that much yet, I said he did start humping some things and he said that could be to itch it or just showing dominance because it seems to only be my kids and when they get on the floor to play. I am so sorry it is all over the place and run on sentences but im trying not to forget anything. He also gave bordetella vaccine which my other vet never gave or even said he needed so im not sure what the deal is with that and another k9 distemper/parvo/lempto- 4way. He mentioned the other vet didn't vaccinate against lepto either which was confusing. But anyways I will now be using that vet, and an hour drive doesn't bother me to know Diesel will be in good hands. My baby is not a baby anymore and is now weighing 31 pounds. Here is a pic of him yesterday thinking it is way too hot to have to go outside and potty. It was 91 yesterday and so muggy. Texas weather has been crazy to say the least. IMG_3938.jpg
