Hey I'm Scott and I'm new to being a puppy owner. I just got my 4 month old half English bulldog half olde English Bulldogge puppy. We had our first vet appointment yesterday and discovered shes having some eye irritation due to her eye lids "rolling in"

Has anyone else dealt with this issue? what can i do to help? I was prescribed eye drops. but i would like to know if there's anything I can do to help solve the problem, I don't want her to need surgery in the future. Is there anything outside of just hoping she grows out of the issue?

Hi and welcome to the forum -i done a quick search on forum and looks like there are quite a few threads on Entropion soon sure some members will be able to advise you once they are online :-)

Enthropian is quite common. The corrective surgery takes a wedge of flesh from under the eye to pull the rolled in lower lid back out. I'd check with your bully vet for more details on when and at what point they recommend the surgery.

Our Boeboe had it, we noticed it cos her eyes were tearing more than normal. She has had surgery, but I'm not convinced it's totally fixed anyway:( sometimes her eyes still tear a lot. I know if surgery doesn't help or if you don't want her to have to go through that, the hairs that scratches the eye can be removed some other way, not sure exactly how... think they pull them out? I think Libra926 will know:)

I have no idea if there is something to do right now to prevent future surgery, but eye drops will definately help right now:)

Oh, and welcome:D Ziggy is adorable<3

Here is a picture of Boeboe after her stitches came out, it healed nicely. She looked pretty rough the day after the surgery:( but now you can hardly tell she's had it:).

Harper's eyelashes are scratching his eyes and causing excessive tearing. He is having a "procedure" Thursday to correct it. Eye specialist said he will put him under and then freeze the area of the eyelid to get rid of those lashes. The regular vet has pulled them twice and they keep growing back unless they are frozen.

Duchess had this procedure done bout 3 weeks ago. Entropian correction is much more invasive and costly and almost always changes the appearance of the dog.

Dolly's has had the eyelashes cauterised and so has Peggy Sue, but Peggy also had the entropion done and ever since the surgery over a year ago, she has dry eye and it's way worse than the tearing ever was, I can't get them lubed enough, always crusty and dry. Constantly cleaning, 5-6 times a day.

Bo had the surgery last October. So far it's been a great move in our part. He just has a case of dry eye now that he gets lubricating drops for one or twice a day. Here are some after pics. He had his left eye done.
