Chewing!

So Artemis is now 16 weeks. And I'm hoping it's just a phase, but every time I reach to pet her she goes for my hand. It drives me nuts that I'm trying to pet her and she just wants to chew my hands! I know she is teething, but what can I do, besides give her a chew toy instead?

Every time she goes for your hands, tell her NO! Then give her a chew toy, and praise her if she takes the toy. She will grow out of this.

Its a phase. My Bubba would do that everytime i pet him. I taught him not to open his mouth when skin is close to his mouth. I would say no bite or yell like a dog in pain would and now he is very good he doesnt bite or touches me with his teeth. good luck with Artemis

That is good i am not the only one with this problem. Winston is only 10weeks and he does the same when anyone goes to pat him.

All three of our bullies have done this. [MENTION=2071]Davidh[/MENTION] gave good advice. It always worked for us, though reinforcement was required periodically during puppyhood.
