Cherry eye or conjunctivitis?

Last night Louie had the bottom of one eye bulging and red. To me it looked like cherry eye and it started out of nowhere. He went to bed and woke up this am with the eye looking normal. He did have some thick clear discharge in the one eye that it happened in when he woke up. I wiped it with a baby wipe. The eye looks good today as of now. Anyone have any ideas? Could he have just had something in his eye?

Could be allergies... since the discharge is clear. if it was yellow or greenish.. that is a sign of infection.

try Benadryl 1 mg per pound up to 3x day

My Frenchie had conjunctivitis a couple years ago. His eye was all goopy with a yellow/green discharge and he couldn’t even open it, kept trying to rub it. Got some drops and it cleared right up.
