Help Needed! Anybody here ever dealt with this?

I am so sorry to hear that this happening. I would definitely get a ultrasound done and if need be by another vet all together.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I agree with the others....have him checked for an obstruction and line up a different vet.

Thank you everyone for replying, all the great info and the positive thoughts!I really appreciate everyone here The vet did a stool sample about 3 weeks ago and that came back negative, heartworm test came back negative as well. Yeah now that I am taking some time to look at this rationally it does seem kinda crazy that the vet jumped to the worse conclusion when I went in there. It's funny how many of you guys mention obstruction, the thought has passed my mind a couple of times. I do try and watch him carefully but I am not here 24/7 of course and he looooves to eat things off the floor (hair especially, ewww). We are def going to be getting a second opinion on this and maybe we can look at the ultrasound but it baffles me that the vet told me yesterday "the good news is that I don't have an answer and the bad news is that I don't have an answer" and he really has not given me any ideas as of yet! I paid too much money there to not have an idea of what is going on. I have obtained a copy of the blood test results so that I have them and I can show them to another vet if my current dr cannot provide me with some answers or ideas sometime soon. Well I just got off the phone with Leroy's vet and he said he could not talk with the specialists he wanted to talk with today but did look into Leroy's calcium levels and that they are normal and usually with cancer calcium levels are higher so the vet said this is a good thing but that he will call me again tomorrow once he hopefully talks with the specialists. So I will keep you guys posted! to everyone!

Viking girl: I am so sorry that you amd your husband have to go through that! The waiting is the worst part and it's just like torture, I hate how the dr's say something major MIGHT be wrong but we don't know for sure...they need to have these tests that have instant results! please know that I am sending positive thoughts to you guys!

Today Leroy is doing great, no throw up or diarreha. Normal energy level, happy dog all around! Giving him lots of cuddles and kisses over here as well! I am trying to think happy thoughts and all of you guys have been a tremendous help in that it is very much appreciated!

Medical science is hard often a rule out of every other diagnosis, especially when dealing with our fur babies that cant talk to explain their symptoms. Labs, especially cancer indicators, are just a tool for diagnosis and rarely the definitive. Lymph nodes get enlarged often from a disease process, even acute ones like colds. Think about how your neck gets sore to touch right under your ears and you can feel a lump before, during or after a cold. those are lymph nodes full of WBC fighting infection, a normal process and signs that your body is acting normally. I am no vet, but I am making a big assumption that Leroy's body works the same as mine. Except I dont feel the urge to pee on trees or furniture, lol. As a nurse, I know sometimes family and patients hear one bad word and that is all they hear out of shock. As a mom, I have done that. But get all the facts, get the second opinion and keep on bringing the information here to process. We have not been exactly in your shoes but we all have a little experience, or worse a lot, somehow. I have not had to deal with a fur kid with cancer but I have taken care of plenty of people. Also remember that doctors often lack bedside manner and dont realize that this is our children or pets.

I just think that my vet jumped to the worse conclusion here, and what suprises me is that he owns an English Bulldog himself so I thought he would be more knowledgeable and sympathetic I guess. He did call me the other day, told me he could do an x-ray and
see if there was anything abnormal or he could do this one very specific and complicated sounding blood test. He said he had no idea how much that blood test costs as he hasn't done one in years! so far Leroy has been acting normal, no more vomiting and a small amount of diarreha (from the change of food I am thinking) and we will def be looking at getting a second opinion if he starts to get sick again, we are just taking it day by day at the moment. it's weird but like how you were talking about lymph nodes being full of WBC to fight infection I would think that my vet would think about something like this first before even mentioning cancer to me and
freaking me out! Thank you again

How fast does Leroy eat? My bertha loves her food and water, gulping it down and then throwing it up because she drank too fast. Could this be the cause?I bought a slow feed bowl but Arnold hated it and chewed it up as soon as I put it down. The diarrhea, what color is it? smell bad? Have you tried pumpkin yet to see if it solidifies?

Sorry have not been on here in a few days. Everything still going good, still keeping it all down so to speak Yes Leroy does inhale his food and water at times lol. I got the slow feed bowl too but the one Igot is stainless steel so he can't destroy it! it slows him down some but not a whole lot. I sometimes think this fast eating gulping of water could cause regurgitation and or vomiting but I am not sure. He has been on his new food (TOTW Bison and Venison) now for about 8 days and he is doing really well, solid poops and we feed him about 2 cups daily. We do notice a small amount of stretching sometimes (we read somewhere that sometimes this means a tummy ache) but otherwise no other issues. I am so thankful for you guys! I appreciate all the info and support and I really feel that my vet had me freaking out about nothing. I dont think I will go back to him if my boy gets sick again and will be looking for another vet. For now we are just taking it day by day here. It looks like Leroy is gaining weight as well at this point. Will keep everybody posted!

yes, eating fast can cause the vomiting and/or regurgitation - hopefully the slow bowl helps. so good to hear he is gaining weight and looking better.... please do keep us posted.
