Hi
My English Bulldog will be 9 months on April 9th..
He will need to have soft palate surgery.
I live in Florida and it’s hot here.
The specialist recommended he have airway surgery and neuter at same time.
He recommends between 10-12 months.
He said his airway surgery would be easier on him if done in the next few months.
He is on the smaller end for male bulldog. He is around 36 lbs.

Recommend age has gone up nowadays. Up to 2-3yrs old. But, if you want to do everything at the same time, try stretching him to 12 months old. Is he having the nostrils done as well?

My males had vasectomies done on them. I’m not a fan of neutering/spaying. But that’s me. Hormones are crucial for all structure of a body. Especially the bones. My last male Jake, was 8yrs old and still jumping in and out of trucks. This dog’s structure was built like a wall. Never had hip or limping issues. He was on a raw diet which does help any body.

Yeah! my thoughts were around 18mths, although I suppose it depends on the circumstances, of the dog. What do they do in the rescue centres in Canada/USA about vasectomies? in the Uk they only do neutering/spaying, as far as I know, to be honest never thought about vasectomies. Jeffo just sounds like Jake.

Rescue will just neuter/spay like all vets. It’s not all vets that do vasectomies. You basically have to call vets and ask. It’s more expensive too. My vet is one that thinks out of the box. It’s not taught in vet schools. He’s that rare vet that’s for raw diets, essential oils (used the right way), NuStock. He uses NuStock for his horses if they get gashes from a fence or rock.

It is a personal preference/decision, but I used to be 8 months is fine but I now believe after ready studies to wait until at least 2 years. It is better for their joints

That's what I like about being in contact with people in other countries, you get different ideas/procedures, and outlooks on certain things, some you you may not agree with, and I'm fine with that. This is deffo one for the memory bank, as are essential oils (in the right hands)(y)
