We don't have a cat.
Just an idea, have you reached into the couch, between the cushion and the back, to see if there is something Emma might be getting a sniff of, like an old toy, sock, or something she's trying to get to, then getting frustrated into chewing on the cushion? Just anything thats out of her reach, that she wants, could be anything.
