Noticed Pebbles stomach had 2 large lumps on either side of her stitches last night. On her right side it was about 3" long (oval shaped) on the left much smaller.

No pain when pushed, not hot or red.

Back to the vet this morning.

I'm starting to not really like this vet which is the Bulldog "specialist" here in Houston.

Gave me some antibiotics for a 7 day series....
Did they say what the lumps were from?

Nope.... I guess they just figured it was an infection. I am keeping a close eye on it.

You know Dikeman. At first he did not even notice the bumps until I turned her over & showed him.

I think I will see if there is another doctor at Brittmore that I may work better with.

Any suggestions as I know you go to the same vet.

We normally always see Dr. Chellappan there. We've only seen Dikeman once or twice....but Chellappan - We love her. If you see her, tell her you know Tyson & his momma - he's a VIP for her. Hahahaha. I think it is normal for infection possibilities after surgery. I hope its only that and the meds clear it up.

Wow! So sorry to hear that Andy. We have never had a problem with Dr Dikeman but sometimes things don't go right and/or it just isn't a good fit. One of the local vets around here gets rave reviews, a lot of the rescues in the area use her. I went to her when Chumly had a limp and she told me he had cancer and had 3 months to live! This was by feeling his shoulder and before Xrays. I was devastated. After Xrays, he had a bit of arthritis. Suffice to say I never went back! If you are not happy with him then I would definitely try someone else. I have heard Dr Kampschmidt is very good but don't know from personal experience. I have seen Dr Gunter and liked her. I do hope Pebbles is on the mend.

Edited to add, I agree with Jessica about infections after surgery. Monty has an infection as we speak from a previous minor tail pocket surgery. Everything was healed and looked fine then he started having weeping from near his anus. I thought it was a ruptured anal gland from the position of it and so did Dr Dikeman but when he went in to clean it, it wasn't that at all. It was an infection in his body. We are now on his 3rd (and long) course of antibiotics to get it cleared up.

Andy T how is Pebbles today? Any improvement on those lumps?

Yes, it looks like they are getting smaller. Weird thing last night & this morning. We tried moving her from the pillow to the bottom of the bed. She ran off the bed, looked like she was looking behind her, tucked her rear end and ran in a couple circles. Then she went out the dog door & stayed outside. She wouldn't get back in bed so I got her crate from upstairs & she went in there for the night.

The startled look, tucking rear end & running in large circle was strange. She did it once this morning & now is acting normal.

She has done great with no pee in the house at night or day for about a week. Now we are back to 3-4 times a day peeing in the house.

She stealth pees, just sneaks out of the room & before you know it, pee. If i say did you potty in the house, she knows what she did, puts her head down & runs out the dog door. I have never had a problem with any other dog like this. I just do not get it.

What medications is she on? Sometimes the meds make them loopy, or she could be in some discomfort still?

Yeah, Monty has done the tail tuck and circles thing before. It's hard to know what it is as he has done it even when his rear end was problem free. It could have been just a big itch and of course, they can't get to it. We usually know when something is bothering him as he gets very needy and won't leave us alone until we get on the floor with him for big cuddles. He can't jump so we have to get down to his level.

Poor Pebbles, not a happy girl at the moment. Fingers crossed she is on the mend.
