I think i have held off as long as I can on the rabies shot.

I am used to Shar Pei's that do not do well with shots & have been leery of getting the Rabies along with all the other shots.

Think I need to take her back to have her spay operation looked at as there is a stitch poking out & just want to be sure it is healing properly.

My question:

Is there a good/bad brand of vaccine for bulldog rabies?

Anything i should look out for?

Pebbles was born on 9-28-16. 7 months old.

I think a stitch poking through is nothing unusual, it's happened to me personally a couple of times! Nothing wrong with having it checked if you are concerned about it though.

Sorry, I can't help with the rabies shot question.

Has she had all her other shots/puppy shots? If you have a veterinarian that you trust-he will have the brand of vaccine he thinks best. Most dogs do fine with the rabies vaccine-you just keep an eye out for any odd reaction,in case there is a reaction-either on the skin,or physically. A rabies shot can be good for 3 years, but many states require that dogs get it yearly. If your dog can come in contact with strays,or forest animals, you should get it yearly. If you trust your Vet-take his advice!

In Texas they need one then another BEFORE the second year & then they are covered for 3 yrs.

Yes, she is up to date on all other shots. I just did not want to overload her immune system with the rabies along with the others.

I am just used to Shar Pei's that do not do good with vaccinations.. Spacing them out was good for them.

If it's non dissolving stitches she has then normally you should get them removed at 14 days.

Spacing them out is a great idea.... my vet actually does it as part of his practice... he does not like to over load and do three or four shots at once. So, he does two and waits two weeks and then go back till they are up to date.

Noticed Pebbles stomach had 2 large lumps on either side of her stitches last night. On her right side it was about 3" long (oval shaped) on the left much smaller.

No pain when pushed, not hot or red.

Back to the vet this morning.

I'm starting to not really like this vet which is the Bulldog "specialist" here in Houston.

Gave me some antibiotics for a 7 day series....

please let us know what came of it...

She acts fine. Guess I will know over the next 3-4 days.

I personally would wait if she just got spayed. Like give her a little break till all heals properly. No rush.

Definitely. Especially now with what may be an infection. Her body only needs to fight one thing at a time.

For sure! Just wait till all is back on track. Like no antibiotics, creams etc etc....then add another extra month before any shots. Also give greek yogurt since or even better sauerkraut that was "fermented! "

So sorry to hear she got a postop wound infection. Don't let her get too active and rip that area open. I'd recommend for you to give some probiotics while she's on antibiotics ( space apart a few hours ), and continue for a week after she finishes the antibiotic- preferably a doogie probiotic like Proviable DC or Herbsmith Microflora plus. If not, give some milk kefir or low fat plain probiotic yoghurt or fresh sauerkraut from the refrigerator section of the supermarket.

absolutely wait! which I see you are ;)
