Shoot me now. My daughter is in FFA and she informed me last night that she was going to be showing/breeding rabbits this year for her project... Like i know anything about that so this is going to be fun. NOT! So in a few months we are going to have a bunch of baby bunnies hopping around.
Oh and Harlea think they are new play friends.

Hahaha! Im frightened what Buster would do, I think he'd be a nervous wreck!

And the fun begins :)

Actually things are settling down. Drogo and Harlea were playing with each other a few minutes ago and standing nose to nose just sniffing one another.

Oh STOP IT!!! Bunnies are cute and adorable…. and you shall have MANY MANY MORE very soon… LOL :giggle:

ddnene Thats the point. We actually want large litters as they will be shown at the livestock show in February and then sold for their meat. Only ones to survive will be the original trio as she is do the 2 year project for these guys. Its just the fact that more animals have been added to the chaos we already have. Next weekend i have to build new homes for these guys as the ones they are in are too small.

Nope. I am not going to eat them. We sell them to markets but if it goes well i will probably keep a litter or two for fresh rabbit for Harlea. At least that way i will know where the meat is coming from just like the deer and elk i will be getting for her in November.

jimmyjj No I do not have rabbits, but we raised them when I was a kid. We also had some turkeys, chickens, a few steers, and a horse.

Bunnies, Bunnies everywhere. Lol. My Nephew just got a bunny, he named Trooper, now they have 2 Hamsters, a Fish Pond outside with Koi, a goldfish tank inside, and two budgies. He's working up to a dog. Lol. He loves animals. I don't think I could ever eat a bunny though, they're too cute. What does FFA stand for? Is it for school?

Yes it is for school. FFA stands for Future Farmers of America. It is various courses in agriculture, livestock and small animal health/management where they have to attend classes, conferences, events as well as have year long projects like raising steers, sheep, goats or work on a farm to help improve various situations and such. It is a big deal here where we live for the kids involved as some can earn large college scholarships as some of the grand champion animals can sell at auction for hundreds of thousands of dollars and the kids get a percentage. Sometimes you will have a beautiful steer a kid raised hit the auction and sell for a million plus.

Oh yea. Steers at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo can hit $500,000 easily. This year the grand champion lamb went for $250,000 which is a world record and the grand champion chicken went for $165,000 for a single chicken.
