Ever seen an English bulldog puppy with an outie belly button? Dr says it goes away as he gets older? Possibly could be a hernia? If so, recommendations to fix the hernia? Thanks

Can you post a picture?

We had a puppy w/an umbilical hernia, and we opted to wait till she got older and it went down. Most vets recommend waiting unless it's severe...

Hank has a small outie. We see the vet next week so I'll find out if it is just an outie or hernia then. Daisy, my Frenchie, has an umbilical hernia. She was held by the breeder so that it could be fixed. When we got her, two local vets said that the repair did not close it so it will need re-repaired when she is spayed. The vet said that small ones will usually close on their own but hers was a little larger than what they consider small.

I had a son, and a Frenchie, who both had umbilical hernias(not at the same time..... They were just the size of a quarter. I put a quarter on it, and used vet wrap,to wrap around,to hold the quarter in place. Kept that in place for a couple of months(replaced when wrap looked dirty) and the hernias closed up.

ok cool thanks for the replies. will get the vet to check it out. Hope it goes away but will definitely wait until he gets a little older to repair if it is a hernia

The hernia if not that big, can wait until the pup is spayed/neutered. If it is large and the vet think it might cause a problem, then get it fixed sooner.
