I meant why is he so offended by a normal walk but not when I take him to a store or park? He loves going to the store but a walk around the neighborhood he hates. But that answers my question, he probably doesn’t get as much out of it mentally. The little bugger makes me feel awful for taking him on a walk

its a stage all puppies go through - hating walks. May be they are a bit uncomfortable in an open space after being inside for 2 months after birth, but being in the shops or parks distracts them from that feeling. When I just got Tank he was so reluctant to go around neighborhood for a walk, I cried and told my husband “what I’m gonna do with this dog?”. Now Tank loves walks and is super fit bully.
When he stops, just pick him up, give him kisses, carry a bit and then again put on the ground. He will be fine very soon.

I’m not a huge fan of dog parks either. We go for walks at dog friendly parks and beaches where the dog’s are supposed to be on a leash. You can also take him and walk around Home Depot as well.

Hi there! I think 2Bullymama may be right about the walks. I think he is just being stubborn.
It took my girl Stella at least month or so when she was young to actually like to go on a walk. She would do the same and act like it was torture.
Now she LOVES it and she looks so proud trotting down the street it makes us giggle!

Give him time and he will start to love the walks i am sure.. just be consistent in taking him even when he is stubborn and it will get better and better. Having some treats with you is also very handy!

As far as tuggy goes, they do tend to loose their minds a bit.. ! Mine will play tuggy and she loves it and she growls but it's a play growl.. Then she will let me steal it and throw and she fetches and brings it back for more tuggy.
If you can find other things for him to play instead it is probably a good idea, but also teaching him to "stop and/or drop it" on command will be the best thing you can do. It will help with many things and not just tug-o-war..

Be patient, consistent and continue to show him who is boss.. YOU
Then smother with kisses... hahahahaha

never took Tank and will never take him to the dog park. I don’t think it’s a good place, Especially for a young puppy. It is like kindergarten for small kids - they just get sick every month. Dog park is not really socializing, because it’s enormous information overload for a puppy to take, noise, smells, tens of dogs. It is much better to find some dog friends among neighborsor friends, 1-3 of them, and go for a walk together, when puppy can properly process information, establish relationships with other dogs. It’s more than enough for socialisation of puppy, and much more safe infection wise.

Thanks everyone for the great advice! A little update. We haven’t been playing tug of war and instead finding other ways to play. No more incidents. In fact he’s doing amazing with nipping, for a 4 month old puppy he’s been very gentle and really doesn’t put his mouth on us much. He did of course go through phases but I’m really happy with his progress! Especially after stopping tug which seemed to be the source of our problems.

He likes doing zoomies around the yard. We got him a huge ball like suggested and he loves it. Sometimes he still refuses to fetch it but he does enjoy it a lot more than regular balls. Still fighting walks but we’ll get there. I still make him go
