Regarding the sideway pics. Do you have something like "allow rotating" or something like on?
Another way to tell is; when you take pictures, and you rotate your phone, do the pics rotate too?

Aww so cute. Pup tent lol. I'm sure mine would love it too, only I'm afraid they would try to eat the tent, poles and all.
I call the people around where I live the Puparazzi, because everyone always comes running to see our guys, and then out come the cell phones and cameras, and they snap pictures of our babies. I swear sometime it takes us an hour to walk down our street, because everyone has to stop and say hello and pet them. Lol
