Hi guys! I haven't posted anything for awhile, but I would like to share with you one of the highlights of my spring if not my life. In Finland for breeding we have a manditory health test and my two youngest attented the test last weekend. The dog has to walk one kilometer in less 12 minutes. The bodytemperature is measured in the start, right after the walk and after 15 minutes of recovery. The dog must not get heated above 39,3C and must recover to the same state as before the walk. Also the respiratory noises are assessed before, during and after to determine the BOAS (brachycephalic airway syndrome) rating 0-3.
My Kylli
passed the test with ease and was BOAS -1. She had only very slight noise in rest, but not when walking.
My Taisto
passed the test with ease and was BOAS 0, so no noises and signs of BOAS at all at any time. At the moment there is only a couple of male bulldogs in Finland who have the same. To put that in to perspective we have had about 125 bulldogs tested in total.
Anyway this surpasses any imaginable show result that they could ever achieve. They have now had with good results all the necessary tests and maybe there will be pups next fall.
