Myself I love fire works. On the other hand coco hates them she is a mess from the 1st time she here's one she's on edge all night. She will literally sit in fear and pee her self :( my poor baby is terrified. Just wondering does any one else's bully's have this fright ? Is there any thing a can do to help her ??

I think Coco would benefit from Rescue Remedy, a natural calming spray
w/great reviews. If still fearful maybe try a Thunder Shirt. Good Luck!

Hi carol we tried that last year a forgot to mention the vet is going to give us some tablets but a don't really want her taking them but a suppose if nothing works al have to.

Poor baby. We used to have a dog that would get freaked out by fireworks. He did better if we let him hang out in the basement during the 4th. Less noise and no windows to watch out of. Not sure if that's an option for you? Maybe turn on some music or tv to drown out the boom noises.

Rescue Remedy is wonderful! In fact, I could use some right now. However, you have to make sure you get the pet drops, which have no alcohol in them. My daughter used them for her pittie, who was a real nut job. They really helped. My other daughter has used a Thundershirt with some success.

Hi, I have two EB siblings, one male and one female. Blossom doesn't get phased by any noises other than our vacuum, but she doesn't freak out over It, she just doesn't like the noise. Her brother Bulldozer is terrified of everything though, including his own shadow. He hates the fireworks, and we put him in the basement, this seems to help because he can't hear it as much. You have been given great suggestions from Carol, MamaAndi, and Chris already, I was also going to suggest the thunder shirt, I haven't any experience with this, but have heard good things about it, and lots of members have good results using it. I also was going to suggest medication from the vet, but don't have personal experience with this either, but know some people who use this for their lab, as he will be beside himself, and chews their deck and walls, etc, when he hears the fireworks. I agree with you, about not giving medications if they are not necessary, but sometimes this is all that works, and is what is the safest for the dog. Carol and Chris mentioned a natural product called Rescue Remedy, and maybe you could try this first, as it is a natural product. If you put him in the basement try playing music, or leave the TV on to drown out the fireworks noise. Poor baby, I hope one of these methods work for him, and he's not too stressed out. Good luck.

We have a tea cup yorkie that is terrified of thunder, the ONLY thing that worked for her is to give her a tablet and put her in her kennel for an hour. Other wise she runs around the house crying and panting and shivering the hole time.

A little known tip about the SSRI's, Prozac, Zoloft & the couple of others
in that class of drugs, applies to people & animals. If anxiety/panic attacks
is the issue, most Drs/Vets put patient on too much at first and can worsen
the problem. Instead of 20 mgs, only 10 mgs should be introduced.

I know for a fact this is true because I was given Zoloft for depression but
had anxiety (eventually lead to panic attacks) they ignored so when they
started me on a regular starting dose, I freaked out the 2 months I was on
it.

Not to scare you, Coco may need it just ease into it on lower dose and lower
that even if she shows signs of more anxiety or aggression.

Ditto! Am I missing a fun holiday?

Ditto!!! JeannieCO I didn't know what it was either but I had seen it mentioned here so I went to the natural food store and they have it there. We tried it and it didn't do anything for poor Gigi!.
