Nyala n Jake

It still rumbling in there... I’m not an expert in soft palates so the ones that knows, is it normal? He resting now but when he walks around I hear his breathing like snoring/rumbling. Maybe I’m saying this wrong. Sometimes the French side kicks in lol.

I think this is normal. The first day after he came home, Castor sounded too. Give him soft bland food as he is probably sore. And call the vet if you Ƥr unsure.

So happy everything went well! It’s natural that he sounds loud now, as everything inside where incisions and stitches are is very swollen. It will take several days until swelling reduces and he will sound quieter. Feed him soft mushy cold food to speed healing.

Lalaoopsie is exactly right. You should notice less noise in a couple of days and then continued improvement. We've done so many soft palates I can't count...not a single issue.

I'm so glad to hear the surgery was a success... I had it done w/my two, and I'm SO glad I did. Vet said tiny Willow had the longest palette she had ever seen!!!

Thanks for your replies. Newbie in soft palates. Now I know. :)

His appetite hasn’t changed, always hungry. For time being I thaw out his raw meals n hide his meds in it. He’ll go back to frozen in a few weeks.

Cheers all :)

Surgery is over and all went well :whew: Seems vet took a good 3 square inch of soft palate excess skin out.
He’s home and needs to wear the ā€œcone of shameā€ for 2 weeks! Right now he’s sleeping n not wearing it. I’ll see if he needs it while I’m home.
